y guy,
Look at blueme's post, and picture with the skis 2 feet in the air. Stays planted?? You guys keep comparing apples to bananas. Obviously the sleds were set up different. You can set them up to lift the skis, or keep them planted.
People have darting because the conditions are such that any ski will dart, then they put on a different carbide. Wholly crap the blank carbide stopped my darting. In reality, the conditions were different.

We didn't race when we switched sleds. We were on the trail then. When we did race, it was on a lake.

I rode an Apex ER, Attak and RTX at the Yamaha demo ride in Redfield, NY. All had 100 or so miles and were set up stock. The Attak didn't ride any better than the shorties except over the smallest bumps which didn't register on that sled and barely registered on the shorties. I thought the Attak would plow in turns and it didn't. I bought an RTX because, after riding two of them, I swore the front end felt lighter without the springs. The Fox floats also seemed to absorb bumps better and maintained stability moreso than the standard front end. Also, the RTX looks hot compared to the ho-hum looks of the Attak and ER.
I think the front end of the RTX is just awesome. It digs in and is so stable and smooth on those Tug Hill turns that feature two foot moguls. It absorbs the inside bumps while not affecting the outside ski at all, unlike my RX (probably because the RX needed such a big stabilizer bar to try to stop the tipping, that it took away a lot of independent movement of the A-arms).
I've never owned a sled like this one before. Too bad I've only been able to ride it TWICE in the last five weeks. Change is on the way, though...check the long range outlooks!
