Picked up my 09 NYTRO RTX on Monday after work, put 24 miles on it just screwing around Wed nite and 150 yesterday. We were primarily ditch riding, some of it was groomed a week or so ago but it had blown in and seen allot of traffic.

I was a little worried after Wed nite that this thing was too much like my 03 REV in seating position, I got so sore rideing that thing that I could hardly walk down the stairs the next day!!! This morning I am barely sore at all, is a good thing!!!

I took it easy for the first little bit getting the feel for her, let way off for the crossings and such. With every crossing I took I gained more confidence in it's ability and by the end of the day I didn't even really need to let off, it handles the landings truely awsome and it is simply at home in the air. My front air adjustment really helped the tipyness I was feeling on Wed nite. While the suspension soaks up the landings from the ditch crossings well it seesm a little stiff on everthing else and has allot of ski lift when on the power. I am going to pull the limiter strap up a hole to pull in the ski lift a bit and stop the pushing in the corners. As far as the harsh ride I think I am simply going to put the springs on the middle setting and try it before messing with the rebound/compression out back, I have them cranked all the way up now. I am a big dude at 300#+ and this is the first sled I have owned from the factory that I have felt was harsh at all, bottoming is usually the issue but not with this thing. I think the ski's are the poorest I have ever expirienced with the exception of the steel ones that came on my wifes old Indy Sport, actually thats what they remind me of. If there is any loose snow it will not turn at all, terrible. I have a pair of USI PX 301's on my Fusion that I will be putting on the Nytro as soon as I get the bushings so they will fit, should solve my problem and the wife won't ride the Fusion hard enough to want anything more then the stock Poo skis.

I was always the first one looking for gas mainly cause I don't yet trust the guage. I got 11 mnpg on the first tank and over 12 on the second. I did put in the least gas of everyone we rode with and burnt withing a few tenths of a gallon of my buds new Z1 TURBO. On the last fillup I put in 4.8 gallons and my buddy put nearly 7 gallons in his 600 SRX!! I am hoping the gas mileage improves as I get more miles on it and she loosens up a bit, 7 gallon tank is a bad deal I think, I can understand weight is important but I would gladly carry another 2-3 gallons worth of weight.

Power wise the low end grunt of this thing is impressive when on hard pack, the skis pull far off the ground and hang on!! I am finding top end to be lacking how ever. I held it for a short stretch when we left and only got 84-85 mph out of her, by the end of the day I did finally see 92 mph but conditions weren't great and I didn't hold it that long with it being new. It did feel snappier toward the end of the day then in the beginning, might have been just because I encountered more hardpack, don't know. Will be fun when I actually get it on a fresh groomed trail /hardpack so I can feel the power it has without spinning everywhere I go. The sound of it made me smile all day. I saw 103-105 mph out of my 03 600 HO Rev, was/am hoping this will at least do 100mph. I am confident that this will not need a rebuild about every 900 miles like the Rev did however.

The ice build up deal seemed to clean itself out for the most part, there was always quite a bit in the tunnel but nothing like some of the pictures I have seen on here, not enough to interfere witht he track anyway. I didn't appreciate the water that would run down the outside of the tunnel onto the boards though. On one gas stop I walked in the gas station and I had a golf ball sized ice chunck frozen to to bottom of my snow pants. The spray foam in the bars actually made a noticeable difference to the handwarmers, they at least get warm now but sometimes they are hot and sometimes not, why do they fluctuate???

Overall I am still pretty pleased with my Nytro, after I get the suspension dialed I have no doubt it will be probably the nicest machine I have ever owned. I am willing to take some trade offs for the 4 stroke durability but with the Nytro it's not looking like there will be too many.

08 fx nytro

I also got a new 08 fx nytro. I got mine dec 24th, rode it for about 30 miles and then put it away. The next day all of our snow melted. Finally yesterday we got a good snow fall of about 8 inches. I rode 120 miles and I am very impressed with this sled.

Riding the sled easy because of break in I have no clue as to what the top end will be. I ran it up to about 70 mph and that was as far as I wanted to take the new engine. I added 144 studs 1.325 Woody's mega-bite. They are awesome. The sled really hooks up now. I didn't see too much snow or ice buildup in the tunnel. At least not enough to concern me. I'm thinking maybe the studs help keep that clear. Everybody is right. The ski's on this sled suck. I'm sure somebody has tried it but how much of a improvment will I see if I put 6" or 8" carbides on it? My pockets are a little low right now from christmas and the sled so I don't think I have enough for a good set of ski's. For a quick and cheap fix maybe new wear rods will get me through till new year.

Glad to hear you like your sled. I am very happy with mine so far

Good reports guys! Glad to hear you guys are enjoying your sleds!! I must say, I love my XTX more and more every time I ride it! I agree with DeerHuntr, there are some things that a guy will have to deal with or perhaps put up with or try to remedy but the pros definitely way outweigh the cons! Be safe & ride on! ;)!

I had 7.5 inch shapers on mine last year and was still not impressed. The only way around it is to get new skis. I went with Curves and couldn't be happier.
