First time out on my 08 Nytro RTX..... -26 C out decent snow condition and my yellow temp light kept coming on.
First 20 miles blew a belt (wasnt brand new but appeared in excellent shape). 5 miles from final destination of 100mile ride blow second belt (wasnt new but in good condition). Both blew around 90mph.
Any ideas why? what to look for?
My first impressions love the powerband need to work on the setup but overall fun sled.
Any help suggestions would be great.

Ever accidently drive with the parking brake on? Done that several times as the sled has enough power to overpower the brake. That is the simplest issue that could have happened.
Your clutches could be out of alignment though.

Riding with the brake on would notch the belt, and that's something you would feel immediately afterwards. It's not something that would cause the belt to blow.

Both belts lost there tops......... so they never actually blew right off and bothe times was when i tried to run it up to see what it had top end.... i was able to limp home the last 5 miles with the 2nd belt still on....
Parking brake was not on that i checked right after the first one went...
I was thinking alignment and am having that checked.

I had that happen to one belt last year, the whole belt seemed to delaminate in half. and pretty much exploded doing 90. Doing the same thing you were trying to do, run it up to top end.
Did not happen to me twice in 100 miles though. Just once with over 1k on the belt.

Go for a ride and check the surface heat of your clutches, if you cant leave your hand on either, your clutching is way off.(too much slip)
If you can, time to time there is a batch of bad belts that come out, happend to me before.
Cant say I have ever heard an issue with clutches being out of align with a nytro unless you forgot to put a secondary shim back in.

Mounty has it right, break in the new belt with some reasonalbe speeds and then take it up speed and check temp.
The only thing I would add is make sure both primary and secondary clutches are clean and moving freely in and out. I very much doubt alignment, as its pretty hard to get it out of whack, but I've seen clutches do some pretty weird stuff as they wear bushings.
Good luck.
