This is a great engine + clutch setup with great gas mileage an a sweet exhaust sound.
Great cargo carrying with the rear seat off for long trips.
On a trip with 3 other sleds 1 doo 2 poos I was the only one to melt my hyfax on a short trip down an icy road with some snow cover.
Checked all sleds after smelling melting plastic and I was the only one with melted plastic on my clips.
I suspect this sled will not get great hyfax life.
After this at about 50 miles I started hearing the track howl (noise)
reported by many on this site with 05 Ventures.
This noise is so loud that it causes ringing in my ears even with ear plugs.
I went to a spring Yamaha show in Portland Maine and asked about the track howl on the 06 RS Venture. I had read about the problem on this site but was interested in the Venture.
I was told by both the Yamaha rep and the sales manager from my dealership that the noise was fixed for 06.
Based on this info I ordered the 06.
If you are considering buying an RS Venture please ride one with at least a few hundred miles on it to see if you can live with the noise.
Note: a good source of info on this problem is on the suspension board under Yamaha RD is their such a thing this subject deals with track noise and is now at 17 pages.
Will post after I talk to my dealer but after reading the 17 pages by others with no resolution I have little hope.

hondo,
what is the part number on the Polaris wheels?
Did they require a different bolt or spacer?

Tork,
I don't know, my dealer put them on.
I will get back to you. I do believe they take the same bolt.
What makes them work so well is that they are 1/8" OD (1/4" total) larger than Yamaha's wheels. Plus they don't self destruct after a few miles.

Tork,
Talked to my dealer. The wheels are Kimpex wheels for Polaris:
Kimpex wheel Part# KX 41166 6 wheels (4) inside and (2) outside.
He said some machining is required. I'll have to take a closer look at mine.
Again the wheels are 1/8" larger OD.
The marginal snow wheels are also part of the set up to reduce Hyfax wear.
Dealer eluded to the the fact the he and his maintenance guys found this set up that helps significantly.
He also said that Yamaha was coming out with some better wheels what ever that means.
Folks should probably be persistent at their respective dealerships.
I plan to to run this sled in excess of 20,000 miles to see how durable this machine really is.
Guess I'd better get going!
Hope this helps.

Update
Talked to my dealer in Gorham Maine today.
The service manager was quite helpfull and called Yamaha.
Yamaha is providing an update kit to dealers for all 06 RS Ventures.
This kit adds wheels to the mounting points on the 06 rail 4 total.
Dealer said it may reduce track noise some but the ventures are going to make noise according to Yamaha.
I also discussed an idle problem and the dealer said they would adjust the
idle mixture and sync the carbs.
Note:
the parts for the wheel kits are not available yet.
