Pic up my Red 05 Vector Mnt on wed. What will I need to do, what will I need to know(setup, breakin...)? I'm 6'4" and 190lbs. Thanks. Doug.

Read about Tors problem, no big deal....should be able to add a little slack to throttle cable. Check your coolant!!! Many sleds were set up with high concentrations of antifreeze and were over heating. I had to remove 2 quarts of it and replace with water to get it to -45! Other than that, mine has ran great.

Make sure your dealer sets it up for you weight. Plan you first ride around driving slow. The shitty thing about a four stroke is that it takes 200 KM befor you can rev it above 6000 RPM. This is around 50 kmh. If you go riding with friends, they will leave you in the dust and you will be tempted to bag it.
The dealer I bought mine from was very clear, if your sled starts to burn oil, it is because you did not break it in properly.
I have 300k on mine now and am heading out to Vailmont for some sledding on Thursday. I can not wait!!!!

Watch for over heating, depending on snow conditions and air temp. Toss a little extra snow on your skid and running boards the first few miles. Do not hold the throttle steady for long periods of time, accelerate slowly and deaccelerate slowly as you ride. The motor is almost bullet proof so do not get too carried away on break in, enjoy. Check a plug after the first 15 minutes if its ok check again at end of day.

MAKE SURE YOUR DEALER TESTS THE ANTIFREEZE AND DILUTES IT SO IT IS NOT 100% AND YOU WON'T HAVE ANY OVERHEATING. It is very important during the break in period not to let it get to hot. Break in your hyfax by doing some hot/cold cycles. As for the break in.....there is a lot of differences of opinion on that....the RX seemed to break in best with a lot of abuse. Maybe the Vector is different. I have just gotten over 200 miles and have tried to do a lot of mellow accell/decell on the trail but I was not afraid to take it in the powder and I definitely went over 6000 rmp and did hit WOT a few times. Other than that, enjoy the heck out of it. Also, make your dealer put fuel shut off valves just before the fuel pumps and turn it off when you trailer to be safe.

Wrong. 200 km before you can SUSTAIN above 6000 rpm. Read the manual carefully... it actually wants you to pin the throttle briefly and frequently on breakin.

if revving over 6000 for the first 150 miles is wrong, well then i screwed up. i did a few wide open runs in the first few miles

Never trust anyone with your antifreeze but yourself and your own tester. My Chey Dealer got to replace my radiator because the mech did not know it got below 0 in colorado and I did not check his work. Like wise I know a Yamaha mech that failed to stay awake during class and thought you should not mix water with antifreeze. Spend the $ on your own tester. Then check all you vehicles before the start of winter. Start out with 50-50 antifreeze and water mix.
