Making the jump into my first four stroke. Have had SRX's and a Viper in the past. My primary reason for making the jump is that I will be towing my 2-year old daughter in an enclosed Equinox Snowcoach and don't want her sucking in the 2 stroke fumes/odor all day. I have three sleds locally that I am very interested in and have read just about every review out there. Here is my riding style...95% trail, an occasional lake drag race with my buddy, I'm a bigger fan of acceleration and quickness than top end, having said that, I like to win most races.

If i get the chance to ride without my daughter in tow, I ride more aggressively and like to carve with an occasional jump thrown in. Here are the sleds I'm looking at and looking to buy one within the next day or two so promptness is greatly appreciated.

-04 RX Warrior - 3600 miles, well maintained, studded, $2600
- I like the idea of the 4 cyl and 136" track. A little concerned about weight and cornering on the trail
-05 RS Vector - 2700 miles, well maintained, studded, $3100
-I feel that it would be a better trail sled than Warrior, not sure if I will miss the extra cylinder at times and unsure about towing with 121"
-06 Nytro - 6000 miles, well maintained, studded, $3100
-I like the rider position, lower gearing would be good for towing, might miss a little bit of the top end, although I've heard it's a great trail sled with a lot of torque and mid range.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Thanks!
Andrew

The main difference is the MOTOR the Vectors nice smooth power good grunt, Nytro more grunt but the Warrior 4 cylinder is the smoothest most powerful motor PERIOD. So the difference in handling is 'real' bit the power is awesome on the warrior /Apex . THis is from a guy who put 14 K miles on an APEX the perma grin comment is real. I now have in our family 'stable' 2 vectors, a viper LTX DX , and a Venture GT with lots of miles on them all. I have to admit I miss the 4 cylinder at times. The ability to have straighten your arms acceleration when your already going 75 to 80 is unbelievable and what I miss. The handling is not 'bad' just not 'great', Hey lots of guys put 10 - 20000 miles on their Warriors / Apexs do you thinkthey did that on sleds they didn't like?

My Polaris buddy summed it up after a 20-30 mile stint on my Apex, " anybody who says you cant have fun on these cause they are to heavy has never ridden one!!!! WOW that sled is incredible. From that day on the APEX was a favorite of his.

I think you would enjoy the Warrior best. Vector would be almost the same sled with track and HP.
Nytro is to many miles for same money.
Just my 2 cents?

Pay more and get something with power steering... It will help you navigate the trails with ease... Especially at slower speeds... It also makes riding the "heavy chicks" a lot more tolerable... My group will put on 700+ in three days with minimal fatigue

04 RX Warrior ! You will not be disappointed. Exhaust fumes are right there out the back , no 2-smoke . Nothing you can do as you travel foward .you both will be happy :)

I wish I could spend more, but we just moved, have a two year old, bought a new side by side this summer and just bought my wife a sled, daughter a kitty cat and snowcoach, and 12' clamshell trailer. I know I won't find the perfect sled on my minuscule $3k budget, and I will probably be happy with any of the 3. I just don't know which one I will be most happy with.

I'm actually surprised I found such nice sleds with low mileage within my budget. I thought for sure I'd end up with an 03 RX1 with 8-10k miles and would have been happy as can be, but sleds with this type of mileage could last me a few years and still hold a lot of their value.

To me it's going to depend on how you're going to ride the majority of the time but for now I'd say the Warrior for the top end potential.....you don't like to lose right?

None of these sleds are good jumpers...suspension parts like to crack at the welds. You can always put a tall seat on the Warrior or Vector to make it feel more like a Nytro. All 3 will tow the coach but the Warrior will do it a bit better.

Don't know where you live but I'd guess far northeast based on the sleds and the prices on them. Pretty good deals with that low of miles.

EDIT - I was right.....just saw your name. :)

Haha. Right, indeed. I think I've ruled out the Nytro. Vector is probably the better trail sled but I've always had 121's and now is probably a good time to try a 136. Not to mention I love that 4 cyl sound.

You missed your opportunity to comment on the suspension / shock calibration of the 2005 Vector!

Warrior. 136 handles just as well with some minor tweaking and handles the rough better than a 121. Power and smile factor is way above the others. Oil burning would be the only issue.

Check out my sig... Pretty sure I'm qualified to comment on two of those! ;)

Personally, I like the Nytro the best. I'm about half and half for on trail/off trail. I skip ahead, play around, and then wait for the wife (riding the warrior) to catch up. I also put a 136" track on the nytro, as well as replaced the timing chain tensioner. The warrior wasn't really usable until I put a new seat on it though, ironically I found a '06 nytro seat in perfect condition which fits perfectly, and no tail light rewiring.

The warrior's power is addictive, it pulls hard and is stupid fast. Also sounds incredibly nice. It just is a tank though, and the nytro is an easier sled to deal with off trail. The nytro is also far happier getting airborne.

Like I mentioned, the Nytro is my sled, the warrior is the wife's. We do swap back and forth during a day of riding, and the warrior always brings out my inner Jeremy Clarkson! power!!

I've owned a 05 vector since new.I like the seating lower so I prefer the vector over the nytro.. As far as a smoooooooooooooooooooth motor go with the 4-banger... "ALL" three 4-strokers are fantastic, fun motors.. Good luck choosing.MM.

Yep- All 3 are great, I'm biased to the Nytro but I cringe at the price on that one for the miles. I paid $3500 for mine with 2k-ish on it.

Go with the Warrior and use the $500 you save to upgrade to a higher seat and put a riser on it.
