Put on 45 miles today and the MTX is going to be a real nice sled once a few things are changed. Pulls good for not having any miles on it but the track , stock suspension and the hand warmers got a go.. #$%&* When I ran a Maverick track on my A/C 900 I loved it, but on MTX I never felt it hook up much at all. Just seemed to spin and spin. Could be the torque of the 4 stroke I guess. I have a Camo 2.25 extreme on the shop floor to be installed this week. Most of you know the stock skid is way to soft so a K-Mod rear skid valved for my fat a$$ is sitting next to the new Camo also. Why Yamaha put such crappy front shocks on such a nice sled is behond me and so I have a set of floats on order too.. The handwarmers did not get hot at all so I froze the heck my hands and I don't have a clue how to make them work like HAND WARMERS.?? :o| They were on high all day long with nil heat. Seems like all the ride reports so far are close in
comparing.. A couple pics..

some have turned the track around with good results..i put different warmers on and they are nice and warm...overall its a great sled though

Ya thats what I said.. I just over 200 km on mine and my floats arrived yesterday and Im going to try the ohlins in the rear..and maybe some heavier springs It just bottoms everywhere.. Going to try flipping the track around first then that will be next to go.. My handwarmers are great I always have to turn them down they get so hot.. I just put on a boondocker 40 hp. shot of nitrous and am waiting for excells exhaust.. Should be a fun sled once its dialed in ..

I bought a Phazer last year and I am looking into buying a nytro now. I've heard alot about the handwarmers being junk? My hand warmers on the phazer get so hot they hurt if there up past half way. I thought they had the same ones?

I took out the local dealers nytro mnt sled yesterday for a test ride and brought a few rev owners with me. We all really liked the sled. It took me some time to get used to the different riding style, but the rev guys loved it. They said it was a 4 stroke rev. It was great boondocking with it but when we hit a SMALL hill it was stuck half way up. A stock 1 ton made the hill at 1/2 throttle. Huge dissapointment.

The down side of the sled is the old secondary technology that Yamaha still uses, the high gear ratio and the track doesnt have the right footprint for steep and deep.

Gear it down 2 teeth, put on a 159x16 track, and for god sake put on a roller secondary with a dual angle helix and I think that the nytro would top drawer right out of the box. I'm really tired of buying a sled and then having to throw a couple thou $$$ more at it to make it a desent sled.

At this point I will wait to see if Yamaha can get it right in 2009.

Hand Guards Make a BIG Difference In Hand Comfort.

Not an excuse for less than desirable hand warmer operation, but I put the RTX hand guards on my MTX and this made a huge difference. The hand wrmers are hot to the bare hand, but don't seem to be hot enough to penetrate a glove. To me, the average person ought to have to turn the handwarmers down to atleast 1/2 power. Currently I am running them full boar all the time. I remember my RX-1 grips burning my hand through gloves, and previous 2-stroke versions just giving out a ton of heat. Below is a picture of the hand guards installed. At -23 F today, they atleast kept me comfortable, not hot, warm, or even noticable heat, but did keep me riding.

Had the same handwarmer probs till I put guards on and it made all the diff. Tightened up the rear spring to 100 and ground 3 grams off the heel of the wts and it made a nice diff. Got Outlaws clutch kit it now. First ride will be next week on that setup. Dropped to 19 on top gear, far as I could go with reverse.
