So finally got my first ride in this week and installed quite a few parts that were in my basement. Did all the parts in my signature minus the track (waiting on new gearing). It drives slow quite well but falls over completely in the powder. I don't think my clutch is backshifting very well so when I stop in powder, it burns the belt off. I put in a clutch kit from Ulmer with the helix for the 1-3/4 BC track but I am running my stock track. I doubt it would make that much of a different but something is not working. In the powder (once I get it going), from a launch it varies from 6000 - 8200 rpm at full throttle. It goes, and then falls over, and then goes again. I tried with both the carlisle ultimax and a brand new yamaha belt. I was going to phone Allen tomorrow and see what he thinks, but something is not working well at all.

Thanks for the help in advance!

Helix could be shifting out to quickly causing engine rpm bog meaning primary spring does not have enough rate to hold rpm up in correct range. Powder riding is a different animal and does require proper setup veresus trail setup.

Yes it is definitely the helix not downshifting properly. It does it when I am hammer down and when I start in the powder. It is not shift up properly when I accelerate and does not downshift when I start in the powder. I also have to adjust the weights on the primary (reduce the weight) as it is reving a little slow, although this could be due to the helix not allowing it to reach the optimum rpm range (about 8800rpm).
