Replacing my donuts right now and was wondering if bolting the 3 into 1 exhaust pipe so the it is slightly compressing the flex pipes (meaning pushing it forward alittle before tightening down the the two hanger bolts) is a good or bad idea? My thought is if it has a little compression on it, it might help keep the joints sealed longer as the donunts wear. I am using copper donuts, so wear shouldn’t be as big of a concern as it was with the graphite donuts.

So does no one have an opinion on this or is my explanation not making sense?

I have only done this once, but don't think that would really make much of a difference. The clamps that hold the donuts in are already clamping the joint about as tight as it can get. It certainly wouldn't hurt though?
