So I found a nice 2004 RX-1 on the side of the road for sale. Looks nice. Has 9,000 miles!!!! Has newer track, driveshaft, and some proaction parts. It was sitting since March 2007 as it broke the drive shaft and the owner went out and bought a new sled. It was fixed a couple weeks ago and driven. It is now for sale for $2500. So what do you guys think? I have a compression gauge, a raytek heat gun, and a lot of tools.....what should I check out???

Hyfax, bearings jack, and drive shaft. Check wires for no sparking at coils. W-arms cracked. many little probs with the 03, not so much with the 04.They fixed many problems that 2nd year. Good luck! You will love the 4 stroke! Oh, Welcome to the best site on the web :rocks:

$2500 is a pretty good price check out all the things Honk mentioned, I have a 2003 with 10K and would'nt sell mine for that!

DavesSRX fill out your profile so we know where your from (so i know where to go get that sled : )

that is what I thought. Sounds fishy too....last ride march of 2007 drive axle broke and then was fixed 2 weeks ago and is all ready to go.... for sale by a friend of the owners....who lives 200 miles away. Asked for owners phone number and was told he is in Colorado on a trip. Too weird. Then the guy tells me he'll give the owner my number to call when he can. This all sounds to strange doesn't it???

I'd ask for some ownership documents, such as registration or something like that and then check with the local authorities or try to get a hold of the guy whose name is on the documents.

Well I looked at it about an hour ago. What a POS!!! Man the engine sounded like money! Seriously that is what I told the guy! Like quarters falling out of a slot machine....NOISEY! Timing Chain maybe, who knows? Clutch springs and such were solid rust. 10" cut in the rear seat, oil in air box....and so on. I guess we found out what a $2500 2004 rx1 looks like. POS!!!!! guess my new sled quest will continue.

at idle the primary clutch on any rx tends to sound like "quarters falling out of a slot machine"

this was all the way up! And it misfired like crazy, seemed to get quiter after it warmed up, even at that the rest of the sled was crappy. 9,000 HARD MILES.

Suggested Retail Value $4785

And I had guys offering 3K for my 05 that was in pretty decent shape.

Thats why it was sold piece by piece!

I don't think they are getting blue book numbers right now. Both dealers I deal with...one here in IL and one in the UP where I do most of my riding both only offered me $3500 in on trade and both said they would rather I try and sell it on my own...as in they really did not want to take trade ins....
Maybe in the fall I would have had better luck...and I did not try for longer than a few weeks...but I wanted a new sled! Parting it went much better....

Snowdog, do u still have parts for sale? Looking for blue hood, tank cover and seat to change the color of my silver rx1. Or does anyone reading this have blue parts to sell or want to trade for my silver parts? Have a red one, and two silver ones, want to change one to blue. Not a big deal just thought i would change it up a little.

Yep...still have a few parts left...but the only thing I have left yuor looking for is the hood and someone just PMed me about it. It has a scratch in it from a branch that won an off trail battle but it has no cracks. I was going to paint it and make it like new and just sell it in the fall. Brother owns a body shop and he has done hoods for me before. He does a great job and they look better than stock.
PM me if your interested and I will get back to you if this other guy does not want it.
