I just noticed on the Yamaha web site that they have a new price listed. I wonder why they dropped the price 200.00? Could it be they are not the most up to date shocks with the new small internal spring to improve rebound or overcome the stiction inherant to the shocks. Wonder if these shocks have different valving than the ones found on the Nytro and RTX. What do you think.

Matt

Matt, I think the price drop has more to do with the quantities that they have gone to being that they are OEM on the RTX and Nytro. The reason they have not sold better is that they have been spendy and the price drop should help that. I think they still have the stiction because of the tight seal required to keep them air tight. That is suposedly only felt or noticed on small bumps from what I understand. I am not aware of any spring, but that does not mean it has not been added. I know the newest fox float has dual clickers and remote resevour, we have had pictures of them here on the site on the racing sleds.

Actually, Fox decided to reduce the retail price on the Fox Floats.
The Yamaha Floats have a internal "negative" spring which eliminates any stiction.
Nytro, RTX Floats have the same valving for '06.

Thanks Viper34, can always count on you for the best info. I will have to wrap my brain around the concept of a negative spring. My guess on that is that with no air pressure what it would also do is pull the piston into the body of the shock. Not worried about the stiction myself but glad to hear there is none. I did figure the price reduction came from fox with an assist from yamaha because they have increased the sales volume to a large degree.
Cant wait to get mine :D What air pressure would you recommend to start off with?

are they still like the standard floats? (1st one in pic)

Yes they look like the one on the left, but Yamaha has specific internal parts. The float clickers I have only seen on the snow X type sleds

Id take the middle one for the Nytro rear!!! All around fox shoxs would be sick

You think a fox is better than Ohlins? IMO the only thing from fox thats better than ohlins is their line of womens tank tops.

Why wouldn't Yamaha put the fox floats on the Attack. It is classified in the "rough trail" catagory with the Nytro and RTX,both of which have the Floats.

Matt ;)!

Ok, floats on the Attak would have made my decision that much harder guys. For once I am glad they did not but for 07 I can see all rough trail sleds getting this "option" if Fox can meet demand and Yamaha specs/quality.

i ordered an RTX myself, but don't know much about the fox floats.. are they really that good of a shock?
