Does anyone know if the Fox Floats 2 would work on the Apex XTX?
Would that be a worthwhile upgrade from the standard XTX front shocks?
What about the Ohlins up front?

i spoke with Mike @ Carver and he believes that ohlins will work on it front and rear. If i decide to dish out a s*** load of money this year for this refined apex, i plan on putting ohlins front and rear.
Or even wait another year and get an Apex XTX SE, if it happens.

Boys... the xtx has the new edition proaction.... not the mono... unless ohlins makes shocks to fit the proaction they will only work on front.
cheers ;-)

So are the fox floats 2 comparable to the Ohlins?
over the last four years I have bought both the apex GT and the attak GT. I like the electronic Ohlin in back and stayed with the stock shocks up front. I too would like to see the SE version of the XTX. When that does come out it would most likely have the fox shocks on it.
Are these worth keeping or are Ohlins still better?

My $.02, but my dealer rode the new 2011's and said the Apex with the Floats was the worst one out of the bunch. He said the standard Apex rode alot better.dfapexride said:Does anyone know if the Fox Floats 2 would work on the Apex XTX?

I rode them too & my prefference were the floats-- Iguess that's why we have choices--Different strokes for different folks.Greasemonkey said:My $.02, but my dealer rode the new 2011's and said the Apex with the Floats was the worst one out of the bunch. Ohlins currently sells a center and rear shock for the nytro xtx . Saw them on the Carver Performance website. I imagine they would work on the apex xtx

thank you for your responses.
Yes, one of my questions was would they work, but what's more important to me are the opinions of the floats vs. ohlins (assuming they would both work).

Dont have any time on the floats so i cant say anything about them. Ohlins to me are top shelf and throughout the years have never given me any problems. I had them on 2 srx's and 2 rx1's and swear by them. And now on my 2008 ltx gt they are even better, they cant be beat in my eyes. Yamaha stock shocks are garbage and are always the first thing I change.

I guess its all on what you are looking for... I have an 07 rtx floats gen1 on front... love them.... and i have a 40th ltx with the ohlins...love them too! each set has their ups and downs... i love the "air" adjustability of the floats... when i want i can slam the front down... the rtx will just plain out handle the 40th. I like the feel of them because it does feel like your floating on certian trail conditions... and the no bottoming aspec is awesome... but when it comes down to it... if i was going to war... i would take the ohlins... plain and simple... you can beat the $hit out of these things and they will take it all.... they are just heavier and more beefy!! (5lbs a set heavier than floats)..
so it all comes down to what you want.... love them both but each has their own ups and downs...
hope this helps... cheers!
PS.... all apex shocks in front are interchangeable.. have done this lots!

You could buy shocks from the mountain SE and through them in the rear skid.
