Hi guys. I am comming over from Doo Talk and I went trew 3 motors in my 05 800x powertec. Last ride I hit a stump, cracked the heat exchanger, and blew the motor. I've had a lot of bad luck with the REV, so I went to a yammy dealer today and they have a 07 attack for $8,500 out the door. Looks like I might have to join the blue team again. I use to have a SRX back in 98, but those 4-strokes are starting to win me over. Don't get me wrong, I loved the way my REV handled, just a little skeptical about the WEIGHT issue with the APEX/ATTAK. WILL I NOTICE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN HANDLING COMMING FROM THE REV! THANKS MIKE!

Not sure on the difference but most say... and I was one of them. They dont ride as heavy as you would think. With the rider position and engine placement they ride suprisingly well.

If you are thinking about making the switch, you might want to watch a video made by a guy on Doo Talk comparing the Renegade to an Attak. The video is pretty good in that it covers all areas and is not brand biased.

There are quite a few members on this site that have come over from Doo. Only one that I know of that went back to Doo in 2004 and is now back on a Yamaha as of 2005. That should tell you something.
There are also some guys on this site that own both an Apex/Attak and a Rev, and according to their posts, they spend more time on their Yamaha. That should tell you something about handling and ride experience.
If you are more of a free-style rider, you might want to consider the Phazer. Sure it currently is only a 80hp sled but it is really quick up to 60 mph and everyone seems to love the sled. All indications are that later this week, Yamaha will unvail next year's line up and there will be a 120-130 hp motor in the Phazer chassis. Might be worth waiting a week to find out what really happens. The Phazer is actually lighter than other 2-stroke 80 hp sleds when wet.
Regarding the weight, the only time I notice the weight on my Attak is when I get stuck. Then again, almost every sled feels heavy in those circumstances.
However, the Attak is the best sled I have ever owned, period.
I came from a 800 rev myself and I never notice the weight . Get yourself a set of doo pilot skis and a 13mm swaybay you'll be in heaven

I also have a 800 rev, and an Attak. The Attak has become my favorite sled ever. That about the best I can offer.

I got to spend a good part of the day yesterday on my brother in law's 600REV"X". After 800 miles on a Yamaha, I just couldn't see what all the fuss is about with the REV. I think for jumping and big air the REV will probably fly better right out of the box. Probably not what everybody is looking for, but at some point you may accidentally find yourself off the ground! I wish the Yamaha would offer a more agressive suspension than the RTX, but there really is no disadvantage as it is now.
I definately think the Yamaha feels more "solid". Not to say that it feels heavy, which it is, but it has a higher sense of quality.
I still think the REV is a good sled, but after 2 seasons on an Apex, I'll never switch......

Thanks NATE and all the other guys that responded, just by sitting on a ATTAK at my dealer the yammys do feel more solid, and you can't beat the yammy's for fit & finish!nate007 said:I got to spend a good part of the day yesterday on my brother in law's 600REV. $8500 out the door for an 07 is a great deal. What is the price before taxes and lic?
