anyone have this problem... Used grade 8 bolts lock washers and red loctight
Bolts from turbo to header flange came lose after 60 km ride..... What's the secret.
The turbo is very loose now and it's not a fun job in an un heated garage.
I would like a reasonable fix.... Is the heat to high for loctight?
Thanks in advance
Barry

I use the self locking nuts ( the steel one not the nylocks). I think the bolts end up stretching from the heat so you have to tighten them down real good to start with.

Is loctight able to handle the temps of a turbo?
Or is there another way.... I like the idea of the self locking steel nuts
Thanks for the tip!

Loc tight is the worst thing you could do for your application. Heat melts loc tight. You need to use Permatex Red RTV high temp gasket maker. Clean threads first with brake clean and then apply Red RTV as per directions. This did fix my problem that is like your problem. hope this helps.

Nord lock washers. No worries about them loosening or a liquid to melt.

Don't use stainless.
Never had a problem with the 4 sleds we use them on (there stainless and heat has not been a problem). Do not over tighten them, use yamaha tq specs and you'll be good to go.
