i was thinking about changing my front shocks on 06 apex to gytr shocks is it worth it

I have 06 attak. I'm going to change mine to the GYTR. I going to try and get an used set and then have them serviced. should be able to save some bills that way.

You mean the shocks that come standard on the $14,399(CDN) Nytro XTX and $14,499 Vector LTX -GT but not the $17,299 Apex XTX?

They want $579 a piece for them up here as well....

How can the more expensive model not have them standard?

they dont use them on the new apex because they are too soft for the front end weight of the apex. And many gt owners have the same issues.
All they have to do is learn to properly valve shocks, but hey thats not yamahas specialty for sure..

also it would ad another few bills to the overall price of the sled, making it way way to expensive, lol!

Cant get mad at just yamaha, all sled manufacturers are getting ready to put themselves under..

Can you not make them as stiff with the clickers or are the springs not stiff enough?

its not the shocks, nor springs, its yamahas typical well known soft one stage valving. Nothing a good shock builder cant fix though.

My 06 has 10,500 miles on GYTR shocks and have never been touched.I ride as hard as most and they work as good as new!!! I believe Yamaha changed shocks to save weight and money!!! It's just business to them, never mind what we want. :o|

I put the GYTR shocks on my Attack this year. Truthfully I am not sure I really notice a difference from the stock KYB front shocks. I never road it back to back though as I put the GYTR shocks on over the summer.

they really aren't much different then the stock kyb's. The only difference is they have much more adjust-ability and they have the piggy back reservoirs which greatly reduce shock fade during constant mogul mashing.

If you running flat and small stuff there really isnt much to be noticed except when adjusted properly would give better cornering/ride.

These would great on your sled!!

GYTR's or the OHLINS are the best choice on the Apex, very adjustable with compression, rebound and height. The Fox Floats will give body roll at lower air pressure and the only way to get rid of it is to up the air pressure which adds ski pressure and lifts the front. Fox does build a dual reservior air shock that would work awesome but they are real pricey. I have a set of GYTR's at home and I'll make a vid showing how adjustable these shocks are.
