Hi all,
I have a 2020 Venture TF (151" skid) and am wondering where guys are setting the spring tension on the front skid shock? Currently it's at the stock setting. I've read that some guys are loosening up the spring until it almost comes off the threads? I weigh over 300 with gear and have the torsion springs at full stiff..thanks!

set my brothers 13 venture gt so that the spring was stiff to turn by hand and it helps keep the front end planted more for steering as we tried this 1st before we upgraded the skis to 09 mtx skis. still can get light and playful but it plants the nose to turn a lot better when off the throttle.

the TF, I had one, it has power steering, I think you'd want more pressure on the skis to help get around corners..., very comfortable ride, just doesn't want to corner but I probably had the springs set wrong too...factory setting. On my 2016 TF, track drone sometimes between 32-38 mph..use caution on tight turns, it has a tendency to tip, lots of wind protection, very comfortable, not bad on gas for a big machine.

Sailor Joe I loosened the spring on the front skid shock and that really decreased the ‘tippy’ nature of my Venture GT.

Yamadoo,my wife and I were in Errol N.H. last season, we were going slow and went over a small snow mound, sled rolled on its side, wife got her lower leg pinned under the sled that was on its side, she was ok, no injury but said that was the end of that sled...couple weeks later we got the Sidewinder 2 up...no such tipping issue and its a very comfortable machine. I agree that with the springs set properly could have helped that sled but when the boss says it has to go then it has to go lol no problem..Bought that sled for 7k and sold it for 6.5k after using it for a year. Got the machine with 53 miles on it and when I sold it it had 1k miles on it. Yes there are deals out there every now and then. Sometimes I regret selling the sled because its good to have a backup sled and a sled for friends to use...oh well.
The episode in Errol really showed me how the snowmobile community looks out for one another. In seconds after the roll over we had more people helping us get back on our feet. A group of guys came over and physically loaded the sled back into my truck as the sled wouldn't move from being in some kind of protection mode. We drove to the dealer in Rangeley Maine where it was looked at and brought back to life quickly..while there I test drove the SW 2up and loved it immediately.

I had a tip over like that, while pulling the ‘snow coach’ full of grandkids. I mean I was going less than 2 mph and went over -trying to do a U turn when the outside ski hit a high spot and just slowly rolled over and I couldn’t stop it..
You would think she would let me get a new sled..... I will have to start talking that tip over up more.

Yamadoo, so there are the selling points...not suggesting getting rid of a sled and looking like a lost child, and really not wanting to take advantage of my friends generosity, but when it comes to this stuff..ya gotta do what you gotta do. After some discussion, just ordered electric power steering for the SW...leaves are falling and snow is just around the corner

Joe
