I've got an 04 660 Grizzly. I noticed today that the right front wheel had some play in it. I took the wheel off and the outer hub bearing is hooped. The CV joints are fine. Is the bearing replacable or am I looking at a new hub assembly. The dealer was closed when I noticed this so I couldn't call him.

all balls has a kit for this. if you are willing to be paitent, you can take the old ones out and go to a bearing supply house and get them for roughly 1/4 of what the oem ones are worth.

Thanks guys. Stopped by the dealer yesterday. The OEM unit was $63.00 and the unit from All Balls was $20.00. I usually go with OEM because of quality issues with the aftermarket stuff I've tried with my sleds. They didn't have any in stock and at 1/3 of the price, I tried the All Balls kit. Took me about an hour to do. Now I'm thinking I should do the other side because what I thiught was acceptable free play in the bearing is now way sloppier than the new one. This unit only has 2600 km (1625miles) on it. Is it normal for the bearings to go that fast? My 700 has 2350km and everything is still tight. I've only owned the 660 since about 1500km so I don't know how is was treated before, but it was clean and not abused looking when I bought it. The only mod to it is 27" 589 tires. The ball joints and tie rod ends are still tight with no play.

that is pretty normal. on the old big bears running stock tires, you could do them every 2nd year without a problem. some times every year.

we have 7 grizzly 660 in our hunt camp, theyve all varied to when the bearings were shot,1 bike is still on its original set with 9000 km and some were changed at 4000 km,we all ride the same way,my old 660 were changed at 5000 km,i put the oem's on it and rode to 12500 km and they were still good, not loose at all,my 700 now has 5000 km and they have o play in them, time will tell i guess

Ya, I guess the previous rider did a fair bit of mud riding. Just hauled it out and rode then hauled it home. My stuff only sees a trailer if I'm going to the mountains for a long weekend. Otherwise it's all around home (20mile radius) from my driveway. Oh well, wheel bearings are an easier fix than burning oil.
