So was out to ride my 09 rtx se and within 12 miles, carnage. Well, don't know if you could call it that at 10mph. Crossing a set of railroad tracks and the left ski must have hooked just right. Bottom of spindle completely broke out. I went 15 feet forward while my ski remained on the tracks. So i'm stuck. Take it to my local dealer, and have them do an estimate. Need new spindle, lower a-arm, and front subframe is tweaked. With parts and labor, $2300. Sled is still under YES warranty so i had them check with Yamaha and see if anything will be covered. Of course not. This is treated more like an accident, my fault, so nothing. My insurance said the same thing, collision claim.
My thing is because i never checked my spindle, i don't know if it was already cracked before this or not. Just don't understand how the spindle can break like that compared to all the abuse it goes through on the trails. Am I overreacting here?

Unfortunately, this was an accident and not covered by warranty. You could try contacting Yamaha to see if they can give you a break on the parts and do the repair yourself.
If not, then I would start looking at repairing it yourself with aftermarket and/or used parts. While you're at it you can do some upgrades for better handling at the same time. You could look at the JRE lowering kit, Skinz or Barkbuster A arms, oilite bushings, etc. You have to do a search on this site for these options.
Regarding the bent subframe, maybe it can be repaired...I suggest the Grizztracks subframe gussets, weld the parts in.
