I was literally amazed at the amount of damage done to MrSled's Apex one TY ride a few years back, when it caught a rail crossing just the right way. He didn't get tossed but the splines on the spindle were actually twisted on the shaft, meaning the spindle was twisted.
Blew my mind and I would never have believed it if I hadn't seen it for my own eyes.

My dad, and my uncle were driving over a rail road track and my uncle bent both his a-arms on his right side, and my dad folded his right trailing arm.
My dad never even felt anything, and my uncle had no idea either. Rail road tracks don't have much "give" in them haha

well, I demand that yamaha find a way to make the tracks bend instead of the snowmobile. we as consumers should be able to hit anything we want

How about take down a massive tree and still drive it onto the trailer.

Join the club. My LH side shock is tweeked more rearward on the A-arm.
I did hit something though, but man, I was bearly moving. And the other 8 sleds in our group that day went over the same burm I did and all there sleds were fine.
I went to order a new subframe and Yamaha will not have any available til September. I am hoping they are improving the current design for the 2011's.
Maybe it is designed to be the weak link for front end impacts?
When we rented 800 Ski Doo Summits in West Yellowstone last February we had to do a walk around the sleds and check for damage. I was surprised to see those rental sleds had many of their shocks no centered on their A arms. The tech at the shop said they replace allot of Ski Doo subframe's.

Just went to the 2011 sled sneak peak, not much that excited me too much from anyone but Polaris, LOVE the new Switchback Assault but no 4 stroke. It was easily the nicest seating position of all the sleds there, seat was nice and narrow and transitioning riding position will be easy as hell. They have a home run there IF the 800 will run, time will tell. Allot of BNG from Cat and the ugliest spring order sled ever in my opinion. Ski Doo is pushing the envelope still with the 600 4 stroke stepping into the 550 fan market, not sure what to think of the chassis though. Went through the Yammi's and the sleds look the same as the past few seasons. One of the long track Nytro's even has the right side shock not centered in the a arm and I just laughed, makes no sense putting in a new "updated" subframe
. Power steering in the Ape is neat and I would like to try it, EXUP is a good idea as well. Don't see anything from them that is going to gain any market share and the prices are getting outrageous. Would be hard to justify almost $15,000 on a APEX that seems very dated to me and ready for a make over. Keeping my Nytro for a while, love the sled just frustrated with it , there is nothing better out there in my opinion for the moment

Those polaris' do look pretty sweet, pretty comfy too. I sat on the new ski-doo xrs...I liked that a lot too, with the higher seat and all. My legs are too damn long...wish I was 5' 10". Then I could buy a mazda miata too! oooh or a honda S2000!
