Fuel Pump needed?

A guy I rode with had a similar issue and his sled sputtered down the trail when fuel ran short. Very similar to when you run out of gas in the tank. He must have had a good fuel pump because he ran good up to 10 psi but when he went to 12psi it became very noticeable.
 
Like Allen Ulmer (srxspec) said you can't just slap an inline on it and expect it to work correctly. There's a reason why there's a kit for this.
 
the long term effects of detonation are not always seen right away but pull the head and you will see them. and givin enough time they will destroy the motor.
