How many shut off valves are needed and where is the best place to install them ?
I searched and had no luck yet.

I'm sure others will post pics of theirs but here is how I mounted mine. Oh, and you will need two of them. ;)!

These pictures were provided by a friend who installed the shut-offs in an online fashion with OEM R1 inline filters. It seems that Rich's Yamaha in Lockport Illinois delivers their sleds with mud in the fuel at no addiitional cost! The sled's dirty fuel nearly cost him a motor and Rich's Yamaha did NOTHING!!! These filters are available at any Yamaha dealer. Good insurance if you don't want to tear your carbs apart several times to clean the crap out. I would think fuel cleanliness is even more critical on the fuel injected 06's . He did change the yellow fuel line to a red high temp urethane to match the 05' Warrior color; I kept the OEM gray.

Fuel shutoffs

It appears that only the bottom picture has the actual shutoffs affixed to the chassis or frame. It is necessary to do so? I've never had an issue with my 03 RX-1 and have trailered all over the place. Is the reason for the shutoff if you ever tip the slef on it's side?????

My dealer told me that the fuel is automatically shut off when the motor is turned off. They said it was integrated and there is no need for a fuel shutoff valve he even showed me how it works. i have never used fuel shutoffs and i tow mine around any time i ride. they are always being pulled with a full tank.
