The past few days been wondering about different mods for my Nytro. I would love to be able to get the sled to beat a 800R in top end, so i started looking at different things. Already the Nytro can hold its own in the bottom end. So if a full Hurricane kit is good for 15-18 HP and 10 MPH this should help it big time, then get some clutch machining which claims to be good for another 3-5 MPH on top end speed, other companies say adding extra wheels can be good for as much as 5-8 MPH also. clutching also gains quite a few sled lenghts. If the sled is already good for 105 mph (which is about what i see, im sure others may do better). 105 plus another 22 or more MPH = 127 MPH . Ive never seen an 800 r or any stock sled do these type of speeds. So would it be possible with some gear changes and clutching to achieve these speeds ? Because aside from the hurricane kit wheels, clutching, and machining are relatively inexpensive. Maybe im just dreaming lol. I know a turbo is the answer but im just looking at more simple mods.

You will never see that kind of top end without gearing changes. And with the gearing changes comes loss of bottom end. If you need to beat an 800 you need an apex.

X2 on thd Apex Or a supercharger / turbo and gearing on the Nytro.

Depends on what gearing you go with....I've heard that with 22/39 and 22/38 there is virtually zero loss in bottom end. The Nytros broad torque band helps with that....add in the extra HP gain from the Hurricane/Hindle kit and loss of bottom end is non existant. Stone88 has told me that 22/38 gearing makes a hugh difference on stock/clutched sleds. on the gearing calculator, that combo at 9200 rpm should pull 114mph...in a perfect world. XP 800r's are not known for heroice top end...my buddies was good for 109 on radar.

This is true, but he's talking about 127 mph.

My point was that certain gear ghanges won't affect bottom end that much if at all...and if you want top end then bottom end loss isn't a concern. I doubt 127 mph is even close to a reality.

I'm trying 22/38s this year. I read a thread where Ulmer tested them along with 3 other combos...they seem to pull the best mph in 1000' and 1500'....much faster then stock gears. Another member here ( Stone88 ) told me about 2 sleds he clutched identical and geared one of them with 22/38s and it is consistanly faster and pulls away from the clutched only sled. Neither one of those sleds are making the power that I am so I thought I'd give them a try...time will tell.

Sure will Yox, I'm trying a couple of things this season...although I'm not into top end anymore and am happy with how my sled works in 1000-1200ft...I thought I'd see if I can get more out of it.

It takes quite a bit of HP to gain a small margin of MPH when u hit a certain speed. I am running 7-9 psi with my supercharger aprox. 10hp per 1pd of boost and some pretty good clutching etc in my opinion and I have not seen 127mph GPS! speedo yes, well over. the most i have seen is 125GPS. With that said, i have not held it open throttle over long period of time. 127mph with a non boosted Nytro, I would love to see it, but NOT LIKELY!
