Just got a gps and i'm looking through old threads on mounting it . MXD has a nice set up but i wanted to know if it's the standard length ram mount (3") or the longer (5 1/4") ? If any one knows it would be much appreciated .

I used the standard one. It's about 3 inches long. Mounted it to my riser. Lots of pics on here with that setup.

Thank you, Here is the set up I used (notice the quantities)
qty. 1 RAM Mount Garmin GPSMAP 60 Series Cradle
qty. 2 RAM Mount Diamond Plate with 1 inch Ball
qty. 1 RAM Mount 3 inch Long Arm with Dual 1 inch Sockets
Total with shipping was $37. It took me about 20 minutes to remove the riser, drill it and re assemble. Feel free to shoot me a PM if you need any tips.

Same as my setup. I also hardwired mine in this season as well to the battery charge leads.

How did you do that? I am worried about the power spiking and frying my GPS. I was going to order one of these

But I'm not sure if thats the right set up. The other option was to buy a female cig lighter adapter, plug the 2 in and wire that straight to the battery. I believe the cig plug has a resistor in it to protect the GPS.

I bought a cable on ebay last year for 7.00. I connected it directly to the battery charge leads at the front of the sled. Gives you 12volts right from the battery. A lot of guys here have done the same thing. From what I remember the 60csx has a pretty wide range for operating voltage so you should be good. Just solder the wires on the leads and you are good to go.
Just remember to turn of the GPS when you are done for the night or you may have a low battery.
