Hi all, has anyone used a Garmin etrex legend hcx on their sled? Were you happy with it? Any vibration or waterproof issues? How did you mount it?. I have the 12vt accessory plug installed so not really worried about battery life. Thanks

I had an old etrex legend before my Montana and it worked perfectly for years. I ran, and still run a ram mount and it works flawlessly.

It's a better idea to hook up the gps directly to the battery. Using the accessory outlet, you get intermittent power and this can cause track recording issues as the GPS turns off and on.

I mount my GPS to the handlebar riser using a RAM mount... very sturdy setup.

I have that same one mounted on my Vector since 2009. It works just fine and I have no problems at all. I just run batteries in mine. I can get 2 full days of riding out of it if i turn it off when we stop for lunch. They make a ton of auxiliary external battery packs for cell phones . I'm going to see if i can hook one up to give me extended life.

this is the mount I have . I found it at Gander in there ATV section

Ram mount would be the only way a gps would get mounted to any OHV I own. High quality mounts
