Going to be doing the anual U.P. MI trip with the fellas in a couple weeks. We have heard a rumor that due to the economy theres not a fuel stop between White fish point and grand marais with out going way off trail. Can anyone who has been in the area shed a little light on this ?

The Rainbow Lodge is the gas station between Whitefish point and Grand Marais. There was some talk that they might not be open a few months ago based on "at that time" high fuel costs. But currently they are Partially open for gas and as of December 26th they'll be completely open for the season. Also a little further to the west is Pine Stump Junction, and the Wolf Inn just a couple of miles south of Pine Stump. If memory serves me correct they have fuel at both of these locations also. Just for record or if you want to confirm for yourself the # to the Rainbow Lodge is 906-658-3357..Good Luck ;)!

**As a rule my buddy and I always stop at the rainbow lodge and buy something. (candybar, water, gas etc..) This place is in the middle of nowhere and it truely is a key fuel stop in that part of the U.P..

We always buy lunch there....... We have 4-strokers so we don't need gas....................................... :-o :jump: MM.

Yup anytime we are going in that direction we stop even if we just have to top off might be a gallon might be 10. But you are right superman it is a key stop up there. I ride out of Paradise and without Rainbow Lodge one would't beable to goto Grand Marais on a tank of fuel.

Try the grilled canned taters and eggs at Rainbow , I have ridden from Grand Marais to the Soo many time with gas to spare on my Apex.

Let us know if Pine Stump Bar is still open and have a great ride , trail 88 has got to be the best trail I have ever ridden in Michigan.
