i want to my sled to have more low and midrange power, i dont care about top speed i dont go faster than 60 and thats only once in awhile. is there any other gears i cant get for it? i have a 17t in it now, i dont know what the other gear is. what about clutching? i've seen a few springs but not sure what to get, was thinking about adding weights also. does anybody know when the clutch should engage? i know it should be around peak horse power, but i dont know what rpm that is at. i saw one was around 5500 but i think that was for a nytro. sorry for all of the questions. im new to the 4 stroke's, not sure how much different they are than the 2's. any help would be nice, thanks.

I don't think you can get anything low then a 17t but I don't know that for a faced. Here is all the information I got for gearing down.

My dealer said he thinks you can get a 16, which is what I am going to do for the wife.
You could go a bigger gear on the bottom but you will probably need to go to a 82 link chain

ok from the link i got from prozac500 says it has a 41, the other gear is 45. would that be gearing up or down? im guessing that would be down.

shop manual says the 07 mtn comes stock with a 17/41 (2.41 - 1 reduction ratio) gear set with an 80 link chain. I have a venture lite mp (same engine and drive train/gear case as the phazer) and put a 16x159x2 challenger track on it and geared it down, the venture came stock with an 18/45 (2.50 - 1 reduction ratio) gear set and an 82 link chain. I installed a 17 tooth in with the 45 tooth (2.64 - 1 reduction ratio). top speed is around 90 kph or 55 - 60 mph. the venture also runs a 9 tooth track drive sprocket, your mtn uses an 8 tooth track drive sprocket which will have an affect on gearing and track speed as well. The mtn has the highest clutch/engine rpm engagement of all the phazers @ 4100 - 4500rpm. The FX and GT are @ 3700 - 4100rpm, the venture mp is way down in the basement with an engagement rpm of 2900 - 3300rpm. hope some of this helps
