I was thinking about gearing down 1 tooth to help improve bottom end acceleration. I have reverse. Has anyone tried this? Does it help much and will I lose on top end?? If you done this what tooth gears did you use? Will 1 tooth make a noticeable improvement? Thanks for any suggestions.

I have reverse and geared down to 38/22. It is a pain in the a$$ to change and you do need a new chain, but it is worth it.

Gearing

If you gear down you will lose top end, but you will gain acceleration. You can dorp 1 tooth without changing the chain. A rough guess would be about 3 mph for 1 tooth. Top gears are alot cheaper than bootom gears.

gearing

i geared up to and gained in exeration and speed took full advantage of the ample suply of torqe and to stop the belt from rubbing the bottem of the driven clutch and guming it up and it worked 8)

Blackjohn what are you geared now? 38/25 37/24 36/24? how much more speed under ideal conditions did you notice?

gearing

i am now geared 23/40 with 10 tooth drivers in thery it,s geared for 123 mph stk 24/38 in thery is 119.5 and i pulled 119.2 on the gun so i was out of gears i had black marks from the belt on the botem shelf of the scondary i am shure that i could have gone faster had i have had the gears to go up
