im at sea level , i got a 09 phazer mtx , with bullseyes , fuel pressure regulator , mbrp exhaust , and my fuel curve adjusted , im guessing extra 10 hp , but i have a 151x14x 2.3 inch challenger put on it , and my top gear is 19 tooth , will a 17 top tooth be better ? i was thinking the 19 tooth would give me a greater track speed in powder and climbing ? any sugestions?

Believe it or not but gearing it down will improve track speed under load. I gained over 5 mph going to 17t when climbing. 151x14x2.33 challenger

Yeah i think i should gear down to the 17 top tooth . was there a real big difference with the challenger ? Everyone i knows tells me its way to big of a track for the phazer , but i think it will get all the power to the ground compaired to the mavrick track .

gearing down is the next best thing to horsepower. I am running a 159"x16"x2" challenger on my 07 venture mp(same format and engine as your phazer) and I don't have any trouble turning the track. it isn't a crotch rocket but it seems to go anywhere I want to.

I was never really using the top end before I regeared and went to the challenger track. most of the riding I do is in loose natural snow in tight terrain where anything over 80 -90 kph is just to scarry. big tracks and low gearing definately affect top end if you ever use the top end in the first place.

I dont have no need for top end , last season , she would top out at 136 km/h , i bet with the bigger track and 17 top tooth , 115-120 km/h . Perfect for my usage , never bought the sled for speed.

lost 3 to 4 mph top end and plenty of power to turn the challenger. whole diff animal without the maveric!!!!

I was told that too , but for sea level riding they change the top tooth to 19 , because at sea level the motor will produce more hp.

Is it pretty easy to change gears in these? I have done them before on my Cat, I would assume it is about the same? It has reverse if that makes any difference.
