hey fellas I have a 11 nytro xtx that's clutched, cone filters, fuel programmer and header, star suspension kit. Pretty much everything bolt on except for turbo or supercharger. Anyways love this sled whips 800's and even some Apexs in 500 ft. And it rails in the corners. But my old man is trading his 17 Ltx 137 winder with hurricane 240 flash and thunder products clutching and studded. He's gonna give me a pretty smoking deal on his if I trade mine . Anyways long story short am I gonna miss my nytro thru the twistys or is the pure h.p of the winder gonna make me forget all about it. Thanks .

Keep the Nytro for a back up sled. The winder will be a much nicer sled to ride until it breaks and parts are back ordered.

I rode a Nytro for 8 years and all I can say is you'll wonder why you didn't move to the Winder sooner.

Last ride of the year. Pulled out the 2011 Apex. Wanted to run it some as having it sit in the garage is no good. Took a while to get used it coming off tuned winder but I did. Pros and cons. Engine and pull is sweat as expected, but the ergos are so dated that I was wanting for the winder. Will I keep it? Yes as my back up, because the quality is so good and the smoothness is addicting. However, my goal is to make it as close to winder ergos as I can with taller seat and handlebars. You will find, if you ever sit on a Nytro again it will be awful after riding the pro cross chassis. I run my 17 RTX LE hard and have had no major issues knock on wood. Some annoying things but given how I ride I am very happy with this machine. Over 5,000 miles and the only headache is some blown belts which I am ever so close to sorting out, thanks to this site. Good luck on your purchase, you will enjoy it. Just watch out for tune creep, its a disease that makes you want more and more.....

I had the opportunity to take a lifelong friend on his first sled ride last saturday. I have a 17 XTX winder and a 13 Nytro XTX I just got last year so first time I was able to switch back and forth. Now, don't get me wrong I like the Nytro for going for solo rides around home, stubble fields and around bluffs just putzing around but saturday was straight trail riding and at the end of the day on way home I let my friend take my winder and I got on the Nytro.
I felt like I was being punished, what a difference!

I have an 09 nytro XTX with the star setup and a 17 LTX LE winder. They both have their place but if I had to choose one it would be easy. The nytro is fun in tight stuff cause it's so playful lifting the front end 3 feet in the air when I want or in the deep with the bigger track and the Mohawks I have on it but thats it and it wears me out quick.
The sidewinder on the other hand is a complete animal, handles better, more comfortable and I can ride it for 10 hours straight and keep going.
I won't get rid of the nytro and am putting the mountain tech front end on it next year. But it's just a backup and loaner sled. My buddy usually rides it for a day or 2 every trip when his Poo FST inevitably breaks down every time. He likes it and is looking for one as well cause he's too cheap to buy something newer.

I had 128 kit, jre spindles with axis shocks on front and the hygear trail pro kit on rear shocks,c&a skis, wrp seat, oft relocation, power commander with ignition module, header, ulmer k&n intake kit, changed clutching a bit. And it was an amazing and fun sled. I loved it and wish I still had it.
That said Next to my sidewinder I wouldn’t want to actually ride it I just loved it and miss it. It’s nostalgic. And after 14 and 15 they ironed out some suspension issues and the procross sleds were amazing.

I ran my nitro for 8 yrs. loved it, it never let me down. But I don’t miss it. Riding this new sled is so much better. It corners so easily, almost intuitively , it makes you think you are a better rider then you are. Lol.
Sure there are some gremlins to look out for but this site has them well documented.
Trust me, you wont look back.

Had my Nytro for 9 years and still miss it. The Sidewinder rides awesome. I can't recall, all the upgrades and enhancements i did to my Nytro, but once you ride the SW you will love it. Now it is a halfbreed, but follow this site and learns it's weaknesses. My SW is at the dealer right now getting the chaincase rebuilt after it blew with 91km into a 3 day trip.

What exactly failed in the chaincase?

The screws in the chain roller tensioner backed out and let go which resulted in it jamming in the bottom and splitting chain case. Likely a result of extra vibration as the top gear was getting play in it.What exactly failed in the chaincase?
