I think suspension geomerty, wieght and track height are the big factors. We had a 2001 srx that we could not get more than 500 miles on without wearing through. We tried adding the little front wheels, putting the ilder wheel lower kit on, and nothing worked. The last thing we did was polished all the clips and lenghted the transfer rods to take the preload off the front of the rails. Now he can get 1,500 miles out of a set.

On the mono, there is one area that wears fast. Do you guys think the rails are flexing there or there is just more friction in that area for some reason.

More than likely it's just more pressure in that spot. My RX-1 Mtn with the 151" track used to wear quickest right between the i boggie wheels at the front h-arm and the boggie wheels just ahead of the rear scissors arm. I added a 162" track (as seen in the pic attached in my first post) and still it wore slides slower but it was still un-even.
Once I put Holz Racing Products ice scratchers on and remove all boogie wheel sets but the ones up top at the drop bracket and the idler wheels on the rear axle; my slides wore evenly. You'll see in the same picture that all my boogie wheels are gone.
