I have the smaller access hole (but I don't think this is the problem, starter came out after an hour, can't get new one in!!!!

I can get it in- straight up but then it jams- metal on metal. Blue strap is to compress/pull the hose :-(
I can get it horizontal, below the engine ridge but I cant get it over the ridge into place :-(
Seemingly tried everything for 3 hours. Tomorrow I'll try to raise engine more but its already lifting frame!

*** what angle have people inserted it then moved it to make this work?
*** what side of the oil filter thread did you insert it on.
So frustrating, any thoughts would really help thank you!

- Is it possible engine still isn't tiled far enough back? Or maybe the hose isn't compressed enough?
- Do I actually have to open cooling system and move the hose, most say no...?

If it came out, it should go back in. It's always easier to take stuff apart than to put it back together. Fun times. When I did mine, I did drain the cooling system and disconnected to coolant hose, but that was on an 06 Vector. That gave me a little more wiggle room.
As a side note, I took my old starter apart to see why it had failed. The magnets attached to the internal housing had come apart and physically jammed the starter. I have 47,000 kms on my sled.

I'm going to do a full video on the details and surprises of attempting this job. Lots learned, a few mistakes and certainly a few things done the hard way. For instance, I couldn't get the starter in because I had not tilted the engine enough. Front right 2 bolt engine mount needs to come off for an extra quarter inch. Then it went in no problem. Live and learn.

Got mine out last night as well and considering the lack of effort needed to do so on a 4 cyl Apex (removed two starter mounting bolts and didn't even have to move the oil tank to get it out), I will admit I thought of you @Silver4 and said to myself, life's sure not fair. However, after recently replacing a tunnel and splitting a sled in half, it was good to be on the receiving end for once.
