Due to complaints of dry axle and driven shaft bearings I plan to add grease zerks, like most other sleds use today. My question is should the face seal be removed to allow grease to enter the bearings with less resistance?
That depends on how the seal holds up. The grease gun produces more than enough pressure to get the grease in there, but if the face seal restricts it too much it might get pushed off.
I'd leave it on and try it. The more protection on these bearings the better.
If it doesn't work then go back to the drawing board.
