just wondering if anyone had a true dyno sesion in changing exhaust on the rx1.i just bought a stock 05 exhaust to put on mine. but mine has a modded exhaust and sounds great. if there is h.p gain i will mod the 05 , but if there is none it might as well be quite
The HP if any would be very very small 1 to 3 hp max and I would want to see it on a dyno like you ask. Chances are the HP could go down.

the thing is if it were 1-3 that would be good. but u never know, it could go down.i pick up my exhaust monday and i will see if we can get some dyno time in and see for sure. i will let you know when i get a chance to dyno this thing. but i would think someone did a comparisin already. i mean you cant believe the aftermarket guys.i talked to one of the big yamy performance makers when i confronted him in b.s. advertising and he simply said we lie less then the rest lol

definately let us know if you get a chance to dyno a modded exhaust over stock. I have a friend who has been hounding me to mod my exhaust because he likes the sound of them modded but I love the sound stock and I worry that I could loose hp. You never know it could go either way. I think any difference would be slight and Im not willing to take a chance that I could loose. I allready have an 05 so I have, I believe, the best stock exhaust they put on any of em so Im gunna leave mine untill I see some real proof that you gain by moddin it...

i dont think it is worth the money IMO. If you gain 3hp with u might be lucky to get only half of that will get to the ground. you prolly wont feel much.

weight savings and change of exhaust gained me .03 in the 1/4 mile on the RX1. That is a huge gain! Carb springs gave me .01 better in the 1/4 mile. Both of these mods cost me less than $500
Carb sync, which I did myself, made throttle response better, and ran smoother without the hassle of hitting the throttle to start the engine when warm.
All of these mods have been tried and tested, and are under the asphalt results topics under the racing thread. I know there are a lot of pages, but all of the info is worth the reading from 2003, 2004, 2005

Are you sure about the weight? Stock exhaust on 05 models was 16 pounds while most aftermarket exhausts were 8 pounds. I would expect the stock exhaust on the 03 to weight 16 pounds or slightly more.rxwhopper said:just got my 05 exhaust, cant believe the weight of it, titaniam weighs in at 17 lbs accarding to the bus depot, how much is a stock 03 weigh? anyone know

It is. Im not sure how much but I know the 05 is lighter than the 04 or 03. They changed the material and used titanium to lighten it up.

The 05 exhaust is a little lighter, but not by much.
And the canister is not titanium, it is steel like the 03. The header pipe is titantium.

I've got an 06 apex mtn exhaust and 03 RX-1 mrn exhaust in the garage, 06 definitely lighter but not much. For the savings in weight best to go aftermarket. The 06 is shorter too, uses longer header tubes. The header tubes though are very light on the 06!
