Ride Around Nippising is a ride I have always wanted to do. Its too short for my riding style to cut it up in 2 days but too long for my brother for one day. Set to ride those huge suspension bridges for sleds. Pretty cool!
I agree with monte, it is a lot easier to add up km's in northern Ontario.
North Bay down to Rolphton is my favorite place to ride.

WE averaged about 300mi per day and the best was just under 500mi. I recommend going north for more wide open high speed trails. If you want a challenge do a lap around the lake in one day. We usually started around 10am and tried to get near home around dark.
- That's the R.A.N. Tour! Have wanted to try it for awhile now.
- We do a "Year End" ride in North Bay and last year we did 800kms in 2 and a half days.
- That was the same as we did down here in our normal ride area all year. (District 3)
- We stay at the Travel Lodge which has Food and Fannie's close by.
- North is definetly the place for high miles, combined with beautiful wide open trails! Pipelines, Hydro corridors and Logging Roads are the norm!
You meen R.A.P tour....Round Algonquin Park![]()
- Nope. R.A.P. is a 3-4 day tour.
- R.A.N. is a one day tour around lake Nippissing.

Hey guys,
We are thinking of doing the RAP tour for a good sled trip this year. There will likely be 3 of us going (oly16 included)..and keep in mind this will be our first sled trip with staying overnights at places ever. So clearly I have a few (ok lots..) of questions..I'll try and not get carried away.
After google'in a lot of information about this tour, and looking over the PDF map of it, it is clearly do-able in 4 days/3 nights. I'm not going to say we are the most aggressive riders, cause we aren't, but we are pretty quick. We will be leaving from Halls lake (little west of Halliburton) and will return back.
It seems on the southern end of the trip we should aim for 300km max a day, but as we get to the north east side, (these are hydro line trails i've read) we can go further?
Some of you guys who have done this, where are some good spots to stop and stay the night? Names of places would be great. If we were to do it in 3 nights (going clockwise or counterclockwise around the loop) where would be the best spots to stay?
No-one in our group is very good at planning trips so i'm trying hard here to make it work
Lets get some snow and make this happen!

I stayed at the Morning Mist Resort in Stonecliffe for a couple of nights last season, nice clean cabin. The owner is a groomer operator and part the OFSC club. Decent price too. Google it.

- I'm hoping to do it too, but until they get snow up there, it's too hard to nail down a date.
- I've hear that going counter clockwise is the best.
- Also, check out this link from Craig Nicholson, the Intrepid Snowmobiler...
