Do the plastic hand guards help keep your hands warm? I am a diabetic and find my hands get cold even with the handlebar warmers on so was thinking of buying the guards or the muffs.

I find that they do. Although I use Rox Flex Tecs on my current sled and they are some of the largest handguards available. Ive had different styles on different sleds and always felt they made some difference.

yes they help keep the wind off but the gauntlets work the best your grips make a heated space for your hands with no wind.

I second the thought that gauntlets are much better for warmth than hand guards
I broke off my right hand gaurd and over the next 200 miles noticed little difference in warmth between the left intact hand guard and missing right.
I have come to love gauntlets for cold high mile days

Agreed on both gauntlets are the best. My buddy I ride with got the SkiDoo ones you can see through ( on the top ) pretty short , easy to get your hands in and out of . This last winter he rode only with Mechanix gloves all winter in Northern Wisconsin. - a couple of days he probably should have used heavier gloves , but I never could have rode with Mechanix gloves more than a couple of days!

until i put the +3" riser on my apex, i did not need them. after it was on i added a set of power madd hand gaurds to it as my hand where running cooler than i wanted and they helped a lot. run them on my dualsport motorcycle and supermoto as well.

I Have Heatloc Handguards on both my vectors. Better than putting on taller windshields. Now my Wife stopped complaining about being cold! They are the trail version Black they also look good and fit well with the handlebar mirrors from Yamaha.

IMO no. I have them on my sidewinder and find they did little to nothing. Gauntlets are the way to go. Have had frostbite in several fingers prior to guantlets but not since......

Hand guards look cooler, but gauntlets are the warm way to go!
