The Hartman's are just simple rail extensions that cater very well to the majority of his clientele, mtn riders. They could give a rats #*$&@ about extra hyfax.
Clearly the Tracks USA extensions are more geared towards flatlanders and I agree that they are great looking pieces. I'm thinking the one gentleman who had trouble with fitment must have had a botched set or track issues. Tracks USA sells a ton of these and people appear to be happy.
Those who went with the ultra-clean Hartman tunnel extension and the Tracks USA rail extensions appear to have gotten the best of both worlds.

otis said:Steve,
I would not be so certain that your extensions are too long. I had no trouble getting my track in without the problems you describe. I would bet you have a track that is a bit too short which caused your problems. There are some disturbing reports of large variability in track lengths by many on the forum which may better explain your trouble.
I suppose that I have a track that is too long and just happens to fit perfectly, but I will never know. Many others have purchased these extensions and other than your experience I don't remember anyone else with the same problem.
Just because the hartmann extensions are shorter does not explain the problem fully. The length of the extensions does not matter as much as where the axle sits inside and how much adjustment you have from there.
Otis
Otis the reason i said they are too long is because they are 1/2" longer than the hartman extensions which I ran all last season on the same exact track im running now. Also just to clarify im not measuring the overall length of the extensions im measing the difference from where the axle sat stock to where the axle sits with the extension at the farthest point forward.
I do not doubt that tracks come longer and or shorter, heck they cant even make drive belts the same length.

I just did my 03 shorty, with tracks usa rail ext, and a 136 camo predator. They do NOT sell a tunnel extension for the RX-1. I found this out after buying, so I had to get a Hartman tunnel Ext. Both peices worked really well. Can't wait to see how it works out in the snow! Honk
