I'm curious if hauck's claims on performance gains are worth the cash? Example cam spockets 4-5 hp. All I hear about is turbo, but I like to keep it looking stock.

My guess would be that these cam sprockets just enable you to adjust cam timing and if that is true why couldn't you have a machine shop elongate the screw holes in the stock sprockets ? of coursr than you would be on your own with the timing specs but I would think that a Bike guy would be able to point you in the right direction. Any one know for sure ? :?
1rx,There not even close to being worth the money,A friend last year put the cams and sprockets in and there was very little gain if any,His wifes stock rx1 would smoke him and the rest of the rx1s for that matter,He then installed high compression pistons and still not realy fast, went back to stock after all that.Vcrash

1xr the cam sprocket's would most definately improve the open/close timing of the valves therefore giving you proper and optimum intake/combustion efficency. The reason being is that there are stamped on from the factory and are what is called factory spec. The slots allow you to reach closer tolerances between intake/exhaust cycles.Birdman he could very well take the stock cam sprockets to a well know motorcycle performance shop and have them slotted no problem.Vcrash sorry that your friend had bad result's.Another thing if you got all that off get a nice clean up of the ports nothing crazy just smooth out the ruff spots, that combination cams, sprocket, thinner base gasket(next one down from stock)clean-up on the ports 10-14HP.As far as Vcrash's friend putting in high compression pistons it would be the next size up definite gain no questions, if you truly had a professional do all that work you would and depending on the mechanic's experiance with these motors(makes big difference)you would see gains of 20-30HPfrom stock.

cam timeing can be out as far as 6 degrees on stk bikes. and there is no base gasket this is just like a car block cly and crank case are all one. there are big gains to be made in just going throut your carb,s and cheking them out everyone that i have checked hase had some thing wrong. found three with all but one piolt jet pluged with varnish . choke plungers stuk partly open. if this happens you will not get any were close to full throtle. there will not be any vac to open the slides. some guys have even reported that the springs that hold the needles in place were not there choke cables to tite. found one with the slides broken right from the factory that one was a realy a dog. above all remove the screens that are atacthed to the needle&seats. check and double check those carbs. after findig this in my carbs and jetting up i could run away from 800 rev esaly before doing any cluching. after cluching i could trade wins with well tuned mach z,s and run 119.2 on radar at+20c(68f) and can you just vision 140 on the dream meter in the winter at -25c

Black john thank's for the carb trick, also did you say you jetted up on the rx1.And there is a base gasket between the top of the block and the bottom of the head.p.s If you would like to post the jet size you went from stock it would be nice.

Blackjohn thanks for the 411 on the jetting,I did buy 137.5 but never put them in I'am running stock jetting but I've turned the tool box into a sort of fresh air box that direct's cooler air from the front to that little snorkel underneath the airbox, worked really well plugs looked real good if anything it needs more air and fuel.Thank's for the correction on the head gasket what was I thinking.Once again thank you for the info on the carbs and everything else.
