I was thinking of grabbing a set because I am constantly looking back to make sure my wife is ok. Do they work good? For 90 bucks, I might just try a universal set for 30 unless the Yamaha ones are superior.

I put a set of the new style mirrors on my 07 Attak GT. They mount on the top of the side panels, and look decent. View is somewhat obstructed though by the end of the handlebars, and my knees. If you are only looking back to catch a glimpse, they are fine. If you search, there is another thread on this board, where someone posted a picture of these mirrors installed.

I am just getting ready to order a glove mirror for the same reason. I used a buds this weekend and it worked great, plus it doesn't trash the looks of your sled. Shade tree part number 99-1074. $6.99 I am on the phone with them as I type.

There are lots of posts on this. A search can help answer most of your q's, including pictures.
IMO, the best option is to pick up a pair of 07 Venture Lite mirrors (don't get the kit, its $$$, instead order the left and right mirrors separately - part numbers are 4GA-26280-10-00 and 4GA-26290-10-00) and use a universal left and right hand mirror mount. These look a lot like typical motorbike mirrors.
The mirror mounts I used are from Royal Distributing from their ATV/Bike catalog. Part number are A12-28125 (LH thread) and A12-0928120 (RH thread). The RH thread one has an offset built into the bracket to help it avoid the parking brake lever/cable.

I have powermad handguards on mine with their mirror kit. They are only small convex mirrors, but are adjustable, and give a decent view. They work really well for picking up the headlights.
