Has there been any issues with the 06 GT starter motors?

My 06' GT has always started fine. I started it in August 09 and ran fine, I tried to start it in October and needed to charge the battery for a full day before it would crank. Yesterday I trid to start it and again the battery acted like it was dead. I charged it all night long and today, it was very slow to turn over. So, I decided to add my trollling motor battery into the mix (like a jump start). It still turned over VERY slow. I got pissed and kept the key on start for a anoter 10sec and all of the sudden it went from rurrrr rurrrrr rurrrr, to tatatata tatatat tatata and wham started right up and runs like a champ. It jumped from about 25RPM to 200 RPM while starting it. When it broke free it started rght up. Could be the battery or a bad connection but figured I would ask before buying a new battery. Doug

Battery has an issue internally, probably a dead cell that is sucking all the amps down (even with the jump) and can still read 12v.

It's not your starter motor, it's the battery or terminal connection...

Any suggestions on a replacemnt battery? Aftermarket or OEM. Is one better than the other?

I have always upgraded to the bigger 20 (RX1) battery from the stock 14 (Apex), fits perfect and you just don't use the foam insert.
Just have to make sure you get the one with the positive battery terminal on the Mag side... the standard one comes opposite of the stock Apex 14.
I am currently using an Interstate.

Just a fun bit of diagnostics here, but try this before running out and buying a battery:

Disconnect the positive terminal and jump to a known good battery. It it just cranks perfect, you know its the battery. If it still doesn't work right, then chances are that something else is wrong.

I mention this for the sake of completeness -- really sucks to go out and buy something just to find that it wasn't needed.
