I have an offer for a set of hauck headers and exhaust for my Apex. I have two questions for anyone that has this exhuast setup or heard of anyone with this setup.
#1. Will I loose horsepower with this Hauck exhuast setup compared to stock.
#2. How much should I expect to pay for a used system with the muffler ground a bit from studs but not terrible.
Thanks,

You would prob gain 5HP and lose maybe 8lbs.

I talked to a guy that had this set up in his sled and he ended up taking it back off because he lost power and it was slower. He contacted a company in MN which dynos and tunes sleds every 250 rpm with a programer and they said when an Apex comes in with Hauck exhaust they tell the customer to take it off if he/she wants more power. They have all lost power with all the hauck components on the sled. They said they once dynoed an Apex with ram air, power programer and exhaust and it lost 20hp!!!! So I was just wondering if anyone else has heard tale of this.

I cant speak for the power commander, etc. But I can tell you I ran with the hauck exhaust, airbox mod, fuel accell, 10eks, Ulmer clutch for 1 season and my friend with the same Apex RTX (with just the Bender Exhaust & Ulmer clutch) would pull me by a few lengths. Now, this season, I switched to the Excell exhaust and able to pull a sled length ahead of him. You do the math...... There is such a thing as making sure you have your sled dialed in, which also means the right amount of air flowing in and out...
Not to start a pissing match, but Hauck has always colored with the Crayolas a bit when it comes to horsepower numbers. Back when I had my SRX I believe the claim for his silencer alone was upwards of a 10hp increase when in reality it did shed some weight, but also gave up a couple of ponies.

Rememebr a couple years ago when Hauck's had those limited edition Yellow Apex's? I ran into one on Lake Gogebic. Nice looking sled. He said it had the power programmer, not sure on the exhaust but it did sound throatier, different clutching, etc....payed over 13 grand for it. The guy was from Chicago and was lost out on the lake and was looking to find his way to Bergland. Our group said, "follow us, we are going there now". Anyways we all pinched it across the lake for about 6 miles and I noticed the yellow Apex would only stay dead even with my Viper on top end. In the meantime the 2007 ATTAK from our group (in my Avatar) blew by all of us like we were standing still and reached the shore of Bergland way before us. The 2007 ATTAK is bone stock. It looked like this guy spent alot of cash for a fancy paint job and a detuning of his Apex.

I agree. To be honest, and this is just my opinion, changing pipes on anything, whether it's a snowmobile, atv, bike, or pwc, is a BIG waste of money. Most of the time, there is no real increase in power. More times than not, there is a loss. Also, if there is an increase somewhere in the powerband, usually, there is a loss somewhere else. There is usually a loss in mileage, also. For the hundreds of dollars a new exhaust costs, there is so much more you can tinker with. Some people assume because it's louder, it's faster.

i have the hauck exhaust and it made no noticeable difference. But I hate to tell you a few horsepower really isn't gonna be fealt. I was with two other apex's and it we all ran the same mine just sounded mean and there's didn't.

I've had a bit of experience with pat...and I can tell you... one they definately color with crayolas... and two....unless you spend big money and have them do everything they want ...you wont know the details needed to make their crap work right...thy spoon feed you details on their stuff so you dont have enough info to make it run the way they claim
