Was looking at getting some brighter lights for my '05 Rage. I was looking at getting a set of Brite-lites from Bluhm Enterprises. The thing that I am worried about it the fact that these run at 100/55 watts and the factory ones are 55/60 watt. Wondering if that will put a strain on the system or even melt the wiring harness? Has anyone been running these, and if so have you had any problems?
I know I could run Sylvania Silverstar 9003 ST, but they would not be quite as brite since they are 55/60 watt bulbs. Wouldn't have to worry about them straining the system though.
What do you guys think?

I am correct in saying that it would use the 9003 ST/2's for the Silverstars.......right?
Yes,I got a set of h4st silverstars and a 9003st silverstar, both are the SAME bulb.Same wattage and #on the bulb itself. One set from walmart and one set from Ebay!Ebay was 20$ cheaper. Jay

I've got the Brite-lites in my 05 Vector, and like them as I have liked them in previous sleds. Have heard good things about the Silverstars too!

The bulb is an 9003 ST... the /2 means a 2-pack.
Anyhow, I put in a set of silverstars and they are AWESOME! The wattage is virtually the same, so there is no risk to the electrical system overloading.
The difference is that the silverstars put out a different wavelength range which amount to a different "color". The silverstars are much whiter in color which illuminates the snow much better than a yellow tint that you see from a standard incandescent bulb.
I highly recommend them. I got mine at Pep Boys.

I talked to Ken at Bluhm, and he said that their lights have been tested by Yamaha and Polaris and will not overload the system or melt any of the wires. He said that they are actually Polaris factory replacements. They are specifically designed for snowmobiles, whereas the Silverstars are designed for on road use.
I think the Brite-Lites would be even brighter yet and cost about the same.

Well, I got my Brite-Lites in the mail today and tried them out. I just changed one to start with to compare them to the factory bulbs. WOW! what a difference. They are a much brighter, whiter light. On dim when you look at the headlight housing there is a blue glow around the edge that looks pretty cool with the blue paint.
I think I will really like them.

I put the Brite-Lites on my 05 Vector ER 3 years ago using the 100/55 and have been very pleased with this product. They also have a more powerful bulb called the Flame- thrower as an option. Bluhm can tell you what your sled can handle safely and what model you should use. I also bought their #1157 LED's and am happy with those.

I've been running the 100/55 "blue hued" Brite Lites in my 05 Vector since day 1 of the sled. I tried the Silverstars but I don't care for the brown/tan color of the tint of the lite.
I really like the Brite Lites because the lite throws out a really white beam, with just a touch of blue tint to it. I'll say the Brite Lites offer 20% better visibility. All of my sleds since 2003 have had Brite Lites in them.
Now I will add that I think the overall durability of the bulb has dropped off in the past few years. I've had to replace a bulb virtually every year on both of my sleds (Yamaha and Polaris). I've talked to Kevin Bluhm and asked if he changed suppliers on the bulbs. He claims he hasn't. A replacement bulb for my Yamaha runs about $27 incl. shipping.
Unless I find a bulb that's as "white" and brite as one of these, I'll keep buying them. NEVER had any electrical issues on any sled running them.
