Will a ice chunk from the tunnel damage heat exchanger. My heat exchanger got damaged and I had to weld it. I figure it has to be a chunk of ice. I looked around under the tunnel and no damage till the y pipe area. You'd think if the track pick something up I would see at least a scratch in the muffler oe in the area the would have thrown it.
What are your thoughts...

Hard to believe its from an ice chunk.....
I have heard some horrible sounds from my tunnel but the exchanger shows no sign of damage.

One was so loud I pulled over cause I thought the sled blew up. Gotten used to it now.

Has to be from a solid object - rock, maybe a small log.

Its at the dealer now. Sounds like its gonna be a expensive fix. It got hot too. Head gasket is getting replaced. Taking a long time though. Its been at the shop for a week and a half.

I seem to remember someone last year had a rock go through theirs and take out the exchanger. I've cringed more the a few times when ice has gone through. So far no damage. Hopefully never do.

I just hope they put a protector on future models like they had a few years ago. I may look into putting something on for next season
