For those of you using heavy hitters, what have you found to be the best set up you have tested? Yes, I know there are so many variables that we could all be completely different but I'd really like to know.

Do you run the 1/4 and 3/4" in the heel?

This is my favorite setup for mountain TRAILS (right now) this is on a RX-1 MOUNTAIN so it will be a little different but closer than you think.

I am running:

Heel: 1/4" and 3/4" allen heads

Mid: 7/16" steel with two thin steel brass colored washers

Tip: 7/16 steel with a very thin aluminum washer (not part of the kit) but lite enough to work.

I am using a Orange/Silver/Orange primary spring with three shims and 15mm rollers in the primary.

The secondary is a 54/42 Dalton PROGRESSIVE helix with a Yamaha silver spring at 80 (6 + 2). I also tried washers under the helix posts as recommended on here and I THINK that MAYBE my top end crept up a bit.
I am running a 151 x 2 1/4" track with extroverts.

I am running an ECP kit with EVAC with 160 main jets, stock pilots and fuel screws at 2.25 turns from lightly seated. On the TRAILS I was running 10,400 in the lower elevations (3-4,000 feet) and 10,100+ at (5-6,000) feet. My weights weigh 62.7 grams (if I remember right).

I notice a snappier bottom end if I just use the 3/4" allen headed fastener but it seems to pull a little harder with both the 3/4 and the 1/4 in there. have you guys found that also?

When riding powder or boondocking I lighten the weights up a bunch from this set up. Usually in the 56 to 57 gram range (depending on elevation of course)

Get rid of the Silver secondary spring and go with the white at 6-1.

I am running the stock mountain gearing 21 x 40 (if I remember correctly)

Why would I want to use the white secondary spring when the silver seems to be working marvelously? If I did use it what twist does this sled seem to like the best?

I have tried numerous primary springs including three Dalton springs and just like the way the O/S/O works better than the others. Yamaha was correct on this choice (in my opinion).

Because the white works better! Faster et's and better backshifting without all the twist. Why do you think it is the stock spring now and the silver isn't?

Would that be at 70 degrees by chance?

I seem to remember everyone (me included) removing the white (or was it pink) stock secondary springs on the 03 and going to the silver. That was probably because we were all familiar with the silver from the Vmax?

Hey, if there is something better out there I'm all for it. That's why I asked.

HH,s; 48/40 advant-edge helix, silver secondary at 80 degree wrap. I would run this against any other set-up out there!

Thanks for coming to the rescue on the sliver spring issue. I was beginning to feel like I was wearing milk bone underwear in a dog eat dog world! LaLaLa

Turk, isn't that what you suggested to Jonny Rocket? He used it this last weekend (we went together) and he was amazed at the back shifting quality of this setup.

How heavily loaded do you prefer your heavy hitters? I guess it all depends on which primary spring you are using. I would guess you are using something lighter than the O/S/O?

I believe in a soft primary spring unless I am in the mountains with short gearing & a 2" track in deep powder at altitude. The silver at 80 was perfect cus once in a while at 70 wrap it would slip. the belt. Never did at 80. I used stock primary spring . I can,t remember the exact set up ..think i had 3/4 allen in heel, about 4 grams 1st hole & about 2 grams tip with 14.5 mm rollers. I know this was close but it has been a while & my turbo set up is way more aggressive.

It was the Pink. Alot of testing on timers and the white was quicker for me. That is with the turbo though.

Any of you know what degrees the Bender Helix is for the RX's that comes in the Heel Clicker Kit? It only has 03RX1 on it.

Turk, I too found 70 not quite enough twist on the secondary with the silver spring. You're right 80 degrees is the ultimate (with this spring at least).

Dalton Industries was going to build a secondary spring similar to this spring but slightly longer. I guess I don't understand why a longer spring would that be better?

What shift speed should I clutch too with an ECP kit. Now I read I should be aiming at 10,700 - 10,800 and not 10,200.

The I read the tachs are off by 200 (lower) compared to a digitron so I should really be clutching to an indicated 10,900 or 100,00 to be at 10,700 to 10,800?
