just a couple of questions. do i have to take apart the chaincase and slide the shaft out to remove the bearing on the pto side? or is there a trick to getting it apart? it looks as though there is a compression lock holding it tight on the inner bearing race.

on the first few pages in this specific forum you can find a post with a link to down load your own FREE service manual for an apex-attack.
there is specific instructions on the disassembly and reassembly of what you are asking about.
i also think you can find this info in the tech section but i don't think it is as specific as the manual
Hope this helps

You have to remove the jackshaft from the chaincase to do the bearing............search the Tech section there is a good tutorial there. One caveat...........be careful removing the shaft as there is a spacer and washer behind the chaincase that will fall off when you slide the shaft out. I found out the hard way. It's hard to see on the fiche but I used a pole to follow the shaft out and catch the washer/spacer.
