went to install the sportech handguards on the '05 mtn vector and cannot see anyway/anyplace to install. just did the Apex handguards with TJ's fabbed bracket, but that doesn't even seem to be a possibility. any help appreciated[/b]

I have Sportech's on my '03. I installed them so the brackets are right on the inside of the control blocks. This did push the stock mtn bar and the stock Yamaha bad in closer to the downward curve of the bar. I don't have a picture showing the bracket itself on the stock bars but I can snap one of how they are mounted on my Fly Aero Taper bars. I mounted them the same way other than I don't have the mtn grab bar on yet. Let me know if you want a picture and I'll get one tomorrow when it's light out.

bigrock33,

Here are some pics. My Sportechs are mounted on my Fly Aero Taper Sno X Mountain bars the same as they were on the stock bars. I'm still waiting on my longer brake line and throttle cable so they will be missing in the pics. The left bracket rides just above the brake line though when it is installed and both sides are installed so that the brackets curve up and over the lines/cables. I have the small allen head screw that adjusts the angle of the handguards themselves inserted in the middle hole.

If you have done a left hand throttle the brackets might be close to the bend in the bars. This was the case with my '03 stock mtn bars. I just bent the handguards into place once they were mounted. The part that is riveted to the handguard itself will bend fairly easily.

Also enclosed is a view of the rear of the stock bars with the pad and grab strap on.

Jim.
