HELP!! RX-1 Spittin and Sputtering

Spittin and sputtering only after warmed up and shut off, when i go to restart just spits and sputters till after you start it a half dozen times and then you might get lucky and it will run halfways decent, I've Checked all of the connections under the hood unplugged and replugged, checked coils, seem to be ok, checked both the kill switch and ignition switch, also seem to be ok, tried different cdi to no avail, im lost, help!!

Clean carbs, change plugs, make sure choke is shutting off properly. Remember to open throttle when starting warm.

Same problem my friend had check ur choke easy mistake to have it on a bit or on the carbs it sticking

LB are you saying you should have a little throttle when starting after you've been riding awhile? Mine starts harder as the day goes on. I hate having to turn the key 3x or more to get it started. I thought it probably was a no-no to give it any throttle while starting. Although, I've found sometimes that's the only way I can start it and keep it running.

Mine is the same way. I just figure its like the old carberated muscle cars. You always give it a touch of throttle when starting hot its just how carberated 4 strokes are.

If I dont give mine a little throttle it wont start at all.Just crack it open slightly and it fires right up and runs perfect.

Same here i just turn the key and slowly depress the throttle fires right up Only takes a little bit but like lookingforspeed say's won't start without it!

I have also checked the plugs, cleaned the carbs, and choke seems to be working correctly, Another thing that i forgot to mention, was that out of that times that you try starting it you'll get it running for a min, and then it will just shut off on you out of nowhere......

I just had the smar problem, took it to the dealer, they said there was a hose pinched, but the service guy that worked on it was gone so he could not tell me what hose, ran it for about 20 mins, so far so good, be interested to see what you find.

Not sure what kind of riding you did the day before or whatever, but you may want to pay attention to your airbox. I was left stranded in the bush on the weekend and had to spend the night. My airbox was full of snow and the foam was frozen like a brick. I cleaned everything up the next morning and it sputtered again about 5 miles later. Took the airbox apart....again full of snow.

If you put the machine in a heated garage, the snow will melt and puddle. Yes there is a drain hole but the water doesn't all drain out. So, when you fire up the machine, it will/may sputter until all the water is gone (in your carbs or down the drain).

Anyway, something to keep in mind when riding on the lake or fresh powder on the trail. I will by pre-filter material from SLP and seal the intake of the airbox with the stuff holding it there with a thick elastic band. Hopefully I won't spend another hellish night in the bush (thank God I found a camp to get into). This may not be your problem, but it is just something everyone should be aware of (I wasn't).

I hold the throttle down a small amount on a warm start also. It does start quicker and there is a nice little bark when she lights off. Don't over do it. Otherwise, you got to watch out for the guy in front of you in the gas line. When I start like this, I usually have the left hand on the brake.

Air Box Isn't froze up, I've Pretty well eliminated everything but the electrical somewhere, I will be taking it to the dealer tomorrow to get looked at, and also have all of the updates done to it

Left hand on brake, right hand on throttle, what are you turning the key with?
