I have my rail extensions and new iceripper XT track !!!!!!

I will be installing this weekend with help of a friend.......thank God- he is much more mechanically experienced than I.

Any way, we will follow MR Sled chain case and track removal tech tips. any other threads with help for tracks in and out? if so could you provide links? THanks

What I want to know is what else should we do while I have it apart?

Bearings............ I am thinking both drive shaft and jack shaft.... sled has 11k + miles. Ideas ??

What bolts do I need for the TRACKS USA rail extensions? What grade with aluminum. I will call them tomorrow, just wondering if anyone knew.

Any other thoughts while we have the tunnel bare?

I have new exhaust donuts from last year.

Thanks any help would be appreciated. Hate to go through and learn next week, Oh I wish I would have done X.

I just thought of the front rail anti stab plastic caps. I have read guys are drilling out rivet and using stainless bolt and silicone.

Well I am excited, we were going to do this in about 3 weeks so doing it this week end is an exciting unofficial beginning to winter for me.

Thanks

Also are Apex seats secured under the exhaust and rear light shrouding and then phillips up front like the old ones?
Thanks

Remove the exhaust tip covers, and rear fairing that has the little red reflector. You;ll see 2 hook bolts that fasten the seat to the exhasut can heat shield. The front of the seat just hooks under the lip of the gas tank.

The wiring for the tail light disconnects from the main harness near the RH side of the seat near the black pastic trim piece that mates up with the tank cover.

Doing the exact same thing (Ice Ripper and bearings) to my RX-1 and ended up replacing all the idler wheel bearings on the skid too. Found it easier to slide the skid back in by placing a couple of 3/4" wood dowels across the inside of the track so that the wheels and slides did not get caught on the drive lugs. If I did it again I would try to find an arbour press to help get the bearings in and out of the chaincase. I tried to be careful but it's hard keeping things straight with a hammer and pipe. Good luck.

I replaced all the idlers last year with the spoked new Yamaha ones, will check the bearings.

Off to the store to get grease, silicone and stainless steel hard ware

Thanks
