Just a few questions about the front end of my sled. Soon enough it'll be December and I'll be caught in the barn when the snow is flying working on the sled. First off its a 03 RX-1. Completly bone stock with 14xxx kilometers on it. I want to replace all the front end bushings in the a-arms and what not but I dont know what to buy, any reccomendations?. Also the skis are pretty wore out so I should get new ones. Any suggestions? One more thing, handle bar risers?? whats the highest I can go with stock cables? and what would I need for higher handle bar risers.Thanks.

you might have to use stock bushings from yamaha. ulmer makes kits but i dont think they fit the 03. as for skis, c+a and simmons are good or you can pick up some new take-offs prety cheap in the classifieds. you can raise the bars 2 inches with no problems, any higher and you will need to swap out the throttle cable for a mountain version.

I'd add the Kimpex Arrows to that list and Yamaha has a new ski that is similar in design that is 'supposed' to be available this fall.
They did change the A-arms in 04 but I can't recall the details. http://www.pioneerperformance.net/ has Nylatron kits listed for the 03, check out the rear suspension page.

THanks Guys, Now 2 inches isnt really worth while I think, so how hard are the Mountain cables to get ahold of? I'm sure there a fortune from Yamaha. Crewchief47 you should not have shown me that site... I could drop 4 grand WAY to easy hahaha.

Call Kevin at www.PortYamaha.com and he can set you up with cables. Throttle look to be around $25. Not sure if you need to do the choke or brake line though.
ulmer all the way on the front end. add a sway bar at the same time. love the arrow skis, so good yamaha aquired them. I have a set of yamaha ones on order as soon as they are availible.
your rear skid
check out my artiles on the rear skid in your sled to help rebuild it and set it up.

If this helps I do alot of trail riding, but I'm the guy who ducks off the trails in a open feild and boondocks wide open when I can. Idealy i'd like a wider ski but I know you cant have everything. Thanks for the input fellas.

you will need the throttle cable, brake line, choke and park brake cable are all needed if going to a taller riser. cost me about $120.00 canadian for all of the above for my brothers sled last season.

Another thing, I'm thinking about buying the wider a-arms kit from pioneer, but I'm just wondering what shocks will fit? or reommmendations for shocks? Ans what does shimming your skis mean/do?
