Jerry, the Vector tailight bolts into the Apex seat just fine. I just need to rework the seat harness with the Vector plugs.

Done! Thanks for the help guys!
I marked the tank and made a template like you suggested Brian. After transferring to the shroud and taping it off, I measured to make sure the two sides were semetric and compared the taped off part to DaJudge's photo. Then I cut it with a dremel tool. Easy. I sanded the edges before removing the masking tape, then untaped. I already have it put together and you can't tell that it didn't come that way! The shroud presses into the seat just enough to hide the white edge where it's cut off. The Apex seat contour lines even match the lines in the top of the shroud. What an awesome upgrade. Looks way cooler and the seating position feels great!

I just received my Mountain Mod seat today and hopefully I'll get into mounting it next weekend! Apparently, he is using a newer, and firmer foam.

Now remember, I used a cutoff wheel. You want to end up with about 3 1/2 inches total. Also you want to cut on a angle so you dont have a sharp edge to cut the seat. I used a die grinder to round off the edge that I cut. The most important thing is take your time, dont be in a hurry. The plastic cuts very easy.
I posted this and then saw that you had it done ......... good job.
Re: Question for ya
Jerry, do you still need/want that template? If so I'll have to send it before I go south.

Hey Twomorestrokes, did you end up cutting a connector and pulling the wiring through your old seat? Or buy a new one?
I'm in the same predicament as you were. Removing the wiring is tough. Also did you run the wiring under the heat shield that's riveted to the seat? Or do you feel secure enough that the wires won't melt from the heat off the exhaust?

I cut the connectors off the Vector seat and am making my own harness by soldering and using heat shrink. I am going to leave it outside the seat but not sure where to route it yet. Yes I worry about exhaust heat. I wonder where it is routed on mounain sleds? Anyone know?

Hey Mike, I figured out why you were having trouble pulling on the wiring harnes in hopes of removing it in one piece.
It turns out that it is actually taped to the plastic base of the seat.
I ended up removing about a dozen staples on the side and was able to get my hand in and carefully pull the wiring with the tape off. No problem at all.

That explains it! I have my seat sold though so I am aprehensive about pulling staples loose. Did you put your seat back together afterward?

No I didn't, I figure if I ever upgrade my sled to an Apex, I'd put the Mountain Mod seat on that and put the old seat back on the Vector. Then I would transfer the wiring back as well and I'll staple it back up then.
