does the suspension have to come out to replace the wheels that ride in between the drive lugs and the two shocks connect the shaft that the wheels ride on.
Will the 06 replacement wheels for the apex fit, and does anyone know the demensions of the wheel and inside berring race. thanks

the skid does not need to come out.
The apex wheels will not last much longer than the original, they are too thin and will still bend and warp.............then off comes the rubber.

The ID of the wheel bearing is 25mm.

The 03 and 04 RX1 wheels also have a bearing with a 25 mm ID, but these wheels are 3mm (.120") too wide to fit.

To put the old RX1 wheels in you will need to pull the skid and have 060" machined off of each surface that touches the bearing.

This is the only good way to install real bullet proof wheels.

Hee hee hee, no problem here Yamaha. My first question, is your track studed? If so Yamaha, will tell you to read your owners manual and will not warranty as per their policy regarding studs.

I'm in the same boat as DaveRX1, blew thru the ported factory #18's in less than 100 miles and then blew out the mid season Apex wheels in another 100 miles. The dealership didn't stand up, nor Yamaha. Both hiding behind the Yamaha does not support studed tracks...that's fine I will no longer support Yamaha or that dealer.

I just replaced mine today, I went with the '03 Yamaha Viper bogey wheel. As DaveRX1 mentioned the bearing is thicker than those jokes of an idler/guide, so you will have to machine (err...grind) off about .30 off each end to fit properly in the rails. Part number is 8CR-4731A-00-00...dealer felt so bad regarding my situation they sold them to me @ retail minus 10%, so much for helping a customer ehh?

I will fix the problems with the Phazer on my own, Yamaha is of no help...the dealership inept IMO. Both got their cash and did not provide solutions to one of my seven issues.

Wanna know why these wheels fail? The first is obvious, the factory wheels are to thin...second they extend to far below the rails. Even the replacements I mentioned above...but it's the best I could do on short notice. An ideal setup would be a 5" OD X 25MM ID IMO...stock is 130 MM (5.12") OD X 25MM.

Some pointers, loosen up your track...I'm letting mine hang just around 7/8" with no weight, just gravity. I experienced some track slap @ about 1 1/8", the studs grabed the front opening and peeled it back just a touch. Next always go over the machine after it has been @ the dealership...just replaced the slidders @ 300 miles, guess who had their fingers on the track tension @ 100 miles?

BTW, the solution to my icing problem per Yamaha is a set of panels... #$%&*
